Thanks to Clara Tate of Hawthorne, Nevada for her help and inspiration with ideas, suggestions, and English. iv Editor’s Note Dated October, 2009 First published in 2006 this book ranks among the most read books in the world. Over 3 million downloads have gone out from thousands of web sites. Over 4,000 web site owners are “friends of MMS” and they provide free copies to anyone who asks for it. The original copyright statement remains unchanged. As of June, 2009, Jim Humble became a perpetual traveler and his work continues in Africa and other countries as described in his updated web site http://JimHumbleFoundation.org . The links within the original book version gradually became obsolete or broken. Therefore a table has been placed at the end of the book which lists Internet resources – recent educational materials that have been written mostly by Jim since June 2009. They are updated frequently and are listed at the end of this book. The world-wide Flu Pandemic announced by the World Health Organization has caused numerous health web sites in the U.S. to be brought off-line. This is based on U. S. Congress openly supporting arrests and fines against persons and organizations that promote alternative remedies for flu and Influenza other than those approved by the World Health Organization. Vaccinations and Tamiflu or other approved antibiotics are said to be the only legitimate means of reducing flu symptoms. At the time of writing, most web sites located in non-US countries still provide MMS information as listed at the end of volume one. Viewed as a classic work this book stands as the authentic history of how ClO2 came to the front as the most potent and powerful germicidal agent on the planet. Jim explains how activated MMS cannot harm normal living body cells. His contribution was that he found the best way to package MMS as a safe affordable product, and to test it for five years to prove reliable v The Miracle Mineral Solution of the 21 st Century outcomes. His discovery is now used daily by more than a million people around the world, not including dogs, cats, horses, and other animals. All this since 2006 when MMS was introduced along with this book. MMS suppliers are no longer listed or identified because search engines provide that information quite effectively. Disinformation on the Internet states that MMS (and the ClO2 that it generates) is the same as chlorine and therefore it is dangerous. That is not true. Chlorine dioxide has been well known in industry for 70 years. Chlorine Dioxide is even an approved food additive at food-packaging time because it destroys salmonella, e- coli, and every other known germ – eventually converting into molecules of water as it disappears. MMS was developed and tested by Jim between 2001 and 2006, involving over 75,000 volunteers in five different countries. This is the story of those years and the events that led to standardization of the current MMS product. New protocols and methods for using MMS have evolved in the years since the release of this book. The latest discoveries and innovations are described in the links at the end of the book. Disregard links within the book – they are now obsolete. It is not. This book presents the Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS), which works in just a few hours. In the world today, the leading killer of mankind is malaria, a disease that is usually overcome by this solution in only 4 hours. This has been proven through clinical trials in Malawi, a country in eastern Africa. In these trials, MMS has never failed to kill the malaria parasite in an infected human. More than 75,000 malaria victims have taken the Miracle Mineral Solution and are now back to work and living productive lives. After taking the Miracle Mineral Solution, AIDS patients are often disease free in several weeks, and other diseases and conditions simply disappear. If patients in hospitals around the world were treated with this Miracle Mineral Solution, over 50% of them would be back home within a week. For more than 100 years, clinics and hospitals have used the active ingredients in this solution to sterilize hospital floors, tables, equipment, and other items. Now, this same powerful germ killer can be harnessed by the immune system to safely kill pathogens in the human body. Amazing as it might seem, when used correctly, the immune system can use this killer to attack only those germs, bacteria, and viruses that are harmful to the body. It does not affect the friendly bacteria in the body or any healthy cells. In this book, I have, to the best of my ability, stuck to the facts of exactly what has happened regarding the Miracle Mineral Solution. This book is the story of the discovery and development of the most amazing enhancement for the immune system yet discovered. Thus, it is the greatest solution to the diseases and ills now known to mankind; it is not a drug. I believe if you follow my ix The Miracle Mineral Solution of the 21 st Century efforts to develop the data presented in this book and to make it available to the public, the story will help make it real to you and convince you to give it a try.

Reiki Energy Medicine: Enhancing the Healing Process by Alice Moore, RN, BS, Reiki Master Hartford Hospital Dept.of Integrative Medicine, Hartford, CT With increasing frequency and confidence, we speak of Energy Medicine (also known as “energy work”) as if it was a new form of therapy for our patients’ ailments. Not so. Thousands of years ago ancient cultures understood intuitively what scientific research and practitioners world-wide are confirming today about the flow (or lack of flow) of energy in the body and, how the use of energy therapies can enhance the healing process. As well known medical surveys report approximately 50% of the American public using some form of complementary or alternative therapy, “energy work” is among the ten most frequently used. Research has shown that these therapies (often called “mind-body-spirit techniques”) can help decrease anxiety, diminish pain, strengthen the immune system, and accelerate healing, whether by simply inducing the “relaxation response” (and reversing the “stress response” and subsequent impacts on the body, illness, and disease) or, by more complex mechanisms. When patients choose these options, there is often a greater sense of participation in healing and restoration of health and, patient satisfaction is often increased in the process. It was with this understanding that Women’s Health Services at Hartford Hospital (in collaboration with Alice Moore, RN, BS, Reiki Master and Volunteer Services) began to integrate Reiki healing touch (one of the most well known forms of “energy work” ) on the inpatient gynecological surgical unit in 1997. Patients have been very pleased to be offered an option that is so relaxing and helps decrease their anxiety as well as their discomfort.

Owen, M.L.S., Ph.D. [email protected] Education Coordinator, Basic Sciences Min-Lin E. Fang, M.L.I.S. [email protected] Information Services Librarian Kalmanovitz Library and Center for Knowledge Management University of California, San Francisco San Francisco, California 94143-0840 Background: The amount of reliable information available for complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is limited, and few authoritative resources are available. Objective: The objective is to investigate the information-seeking behavior of health professionals seeking CAM information. Methods: Data were gathered using a Web-based questionnaire made available to health sciences faculty af®liated with the University of California, San Francisco. Results: The areas of greatest interest were herbal medicine (67%), relaxation exercises (53%), and acupuncture (52%). About half the respondents perceived their CAM searches as being only partially successful. Eighty-two percent rated MEDLINE as a useful resource, 46% personal contacts with colleagues, 46% the Web, 40% journals, and 20% textbooks. Books and databases most frequently cited as useful had information about herbs. The largest group of respondents was in internal medicine (26%), though 15% identi®ed their specialties as psychiatry, psychology, behavioral medicine, or addiction medicine. There was no correlation between specialty and patterns of information- seeking behavior. Sixty-six percent expressed an interest in learning more about CAM resources. Conclusions: Health professionals are frequently unable to locate the CAM information they need, and the majority have little knowledge of existing CAM resources, relying instead on MEDLINE.

This is an open access article licensed under the Creative Commons. Tatiana Bužeková, PhD., Associate Professor, Department of Ethnology and Museology, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, Gondova 2, 814 99 Bratislava; email: [email protected] Neo-shamanism or urban shamanism is a movement which concentrates on spiritual healing and aims to revive traditional shamanism. The aim of the paper is to explore the legitimation of charismatic neo-shamanic healers in relation to biomedicine which is a dominant authoritative body of medical knowledge in European societies. The paper presents the results of ethnographic research on two neo-shamanic groups operating in Slovakia. In neo-shamanism, the shaman’s abilities are represented either as learned skills, or a special spiritual gift. The latter is characteristic of charismatic persons within neo-shamanic groups. I base my argument on the understanding of charisma as rhetoric and investigate discursive strategies of two charismatic healers who belong to different kinds of neo-shamanic groups. Both support the view that the shamanic practices are compatible with biomedicine; however, they represent this compatibility in different ways. I argue that the rhetoric in the legitimation of the shamanic gift corresponds to the particular social settings and cultural background of a healer. It is manifested in the use of the concept of energy which serves as a bridge between spiritual healing and the natural sciences.

Unconventional Cancer Treatments September 1990 OTA-H-405 NTIS order #PB91-104893 Recommended Citation: U.S. Congress, Office of Technology Assessment, Unconventional Cancer Treatments, OTA-H-405 (Washington, DC: U.S. Government Printing Office, September 1990). For sale by the Superintendent of Documents U.S. Government Printing OffIce, Washington, DC 20402-9325 (order form can be found in the back of this report) Foreword A diagnosis of cancer can transform abruptly the lives of patients and those around them, as individuals attempt to cope with the changed circumstances of their lives and the strong emotions evoked by the disease. While mainstream medicine can improve the prospects for long-term survival for about half of the approximately one million Americans diagnosed with cancer each year, the rest will die of their disease within a few years. There remains a degree of uncertainty and desperation associated with “facing the odds” in cancer treatment. To thousands of patients, mainstream medicine’s role in cancer treatment is not sufficient. Instead, they seek to supplement or supplant conventional cancer treatments with a variety of treatments that exist outside, at varying distances from, the bounds of mainstream medical research and practice. The range is broad—from supportive psychological approaches used as adjuncts to standard treatments, to a variety of practices that reject the norms of mainstream medical practice. To many patients, the attractiveness of such unconventional cancer treatments may stem in part from the acknowledged inadequacies of current medically-accepted treatments, and from the too frequent inattention of mainstream medical research and practice to the wider dimensions of a cancer patient’s concerns.

UNSOUND METHODS OF CANCER TREATMENT. Gregory A. Curt, M.D. Division of Cancer Treatment, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland 20892 1. "Things are seldom what they seem, skim milk masquerades as cream. Gilbert and Sullivan, "HMS Pinafore" DEFINITION AND MAGNITIJDE OF THE PROBLEM Earlier editions of .. Cancer: Principles and Practice of Oncology" entitled this chapter "Unproven Methods of Cancer Treatment." However, the term "unproven" is nonjudgmental and is, at best, a euphemism for the unsound therapies that are described in this chapter. After all, many of the newer methods of cancer treatment described in the previous chapter are, in some sense, "unproven" in that their precise role in clinical treatment remains uncertain. The distinguishing characteristics of unsound methods of cancer treatment (whether one wishes to label them unproven, unorthodox, nontraditional, or alternative therapies) are:. 1) promotion without sufficient preclinical data to justify use in patients, and 2) unmethodical treatment of patients that is incapable of detecting either meaningful responses or therapy-related side effects. Not surprisingly, purveyors of unsound methods generally offer "non-toxic" or "natural" approaches to cancer treatment. Somewhat surprisingly, and as will be discussed in greater detail later, these unorthodox practitioners are largely physicians who escape regulatory control by the Food and Dru g Administration and offer their particular treatment ap proach to well-educated patients with early-stage disease. At a time when 50% of the serious cancers diagnosed in the United States are curable with existing therapies and access to scientifically sound ex perimental trials has been considerably simplified with computerized 2.

Both geographically and culturally, a diverse range of groups have turned to crystals and gemstones to address diverse needs over the millennia. While the oldest legends of crystal magic date back to the mythical ancient continent of Atlantis whose people allegedly used crystals for telepathic communication (Raphael 1985), it is believed that the crystal customs continued to perpetuate in Egypt, South America, and Tibet over subsequent centuries.

  • Energy As the Mediator Between Natural and Supernatural Realms
EneRGY AS THE MEDIATOR BetWeen NAtuRAL AND SUPERNAtuRAL ReAlms KRistel KIVARI PhD student, MA Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore University of Tartu Ülikooli 18, 50090 Tartu, Estonia e-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT This article* discusses contemporary vernacular theory about the elusive ener- gies that emanate from the ground. These energies are reported to be the ultimate reason for different remarkable occurrences, both natural and supernatural. The hypothesis of special energies is expressed in local tourism, in ecological debates and healing practises, driving the curiosity of amateur science. In these expres- sions knowledge as a form of engagement with the supernatural plays an integrat- ing role between the individual and the forces beyond. Dowsing reveals the ‘energetic’ nature of reality, which will be discussed using three examples. Tuhala Nõiakaev (the Witch’s Well) as a peculiar natural sight in the north of Estonia has drawn together many reports of energy columns that are linked to underground rivers and cultic stones. Another place under discus- sion is also famous for healing energy points: Kirna Manor works as a centre for spreading knowledge of the interdependence of physical health and the search for a spiritual path with the help of energies that the next example, the Society of Dowsers, attempts to discover using scientific methods. In these examples ‘energy’ designates the position of the individual, in which the participative relationship with the environment works as a form of folk epistemology within the limits of cultural understanding. KEYWORDS: energy • folk beliefs • place-lore • dowsing • healing THE THEORY OF eneRGies AS THE RelAtiOnsHIP BetWeen INDiviDUAL AND enviROnment Since 1992 when the first of a new type of monument – an energy pillar – was erected in the south Estonian town Otepää, the Estonian landscape has gained several such desti- nations.
