Former Ohio State LB Raekwon McMillan Traded To Las Vegas Former Ohio State linebacker Raekwon McMillan is on the move prior to the start of the 2020 NFL season, as he was traded by the Miami Dolphins to the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 29. The trade has been confirmed by Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. McMillan was sent to Las Vegas along with a 2021 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2021 fourth-round pick. McMillan was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dolphins but had his rookie season cut short before it ever started, tearing his ACL in a preseason game, which sidelined him for the entirety of the 2017 season. He returned and played in all 16 games for the Dolphins in 2018, recording 105 total tackles including five for a loss, but he saw his playing time dwindle a bit in 2019 in the first season under Flores, putting up 72 total tackles in 13 games while battling injury problems. Without an obvious fit in Flores’ system, McMillan found himself without a starting spot entering the 2020 season, leading to the move. “He’s somebody who I have a lot of respect for,” Flores said of McMillan. “He’s a talented player. … He’s someone who I think will have a long career but there’s a lot of depth in that room.” With the Raiders, McMillan will battle for playing time as a run stopping expert as Las Vegas looks to patch up a defense that struggled against the run in 2019. The loss of linebacker Marquel Lee following a failed physical this offseason could provide a niche for McMillan to fill on the defense as he looks to impress prior to becoming a free agent this offseason, barring an extension with the Raiders. As a Buckeye, McMillan, a former five-star, found the field early on the 2014 national title team as a true freshman and slid into a starting role at middle linebacker in 2015 and 2016. He notched 275 total tackles, 18 for a loss and six sacks during his time in Columbus. He was a Butkus award semifinalist, second-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection as a junior in 2016..

RAIDERETTE OF THE GAME MaddieROOKIE By Bailey Black “Begin each day with a grateful heart,” is a quote that has long encouraged Maddie and brings new meaning this year. As a lifelong Raiders fan, it has always been a dream of hers to wear the iconic silver and black Raiderette uniform, and this year she got the opportunity to do so. Growing up a California girl, Maddie is no stranger to the talent and dedication that goes into being one of Football’s Fabulous Females. Throughout her life, dance has been her greatest passion. After training in her mom’s dance studio for over 17 years, Maddie continued her dance studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a member of the UCLA Dance Team, she was awarded Rookie of the Year and knew that she wanted to pursue dancing professionally. “After representing my college, I knew that I wanted to continue having that same sense of pride for the Raiders and represent the Raiderettes as both a professional and as an ambassador for the Las Vegas community. I auditioned to become a Raiderette to inspire other people that with hard work and passion, they too can follow their dreams.” Though this is her first season on the team, Maddie has already left her mark. Her drive to succeed and compassion for her Raiderette sisters continuously shines through. While her dance skills remain impeccable, her eagerness to lend a hand and bring positive energy have made her a force to be reckoned with. While Maddie recently moved to Nevada, she has always been infatuated with the endless opportunities and experiences offered in Las Vegas.

CHRIS KUPER ASSISTANT OFFENSIVE LINE COLLEGE: NORTH DAKOTA NFL: 11TH SEASON DOLPHINS: THIRD SEASON Chris Kuper is in his third season with the Miami Dolphins and second as the assistant offensive line coach. He originally joined the team as offensive quality control on Jan. 25, 2016. In his first season as assistant offensive line coach in 2017, Kuper was forced to use nine different starting offensive linemen due to injuries. The Dolphins allowed just 33 sacks, ranking 11th in the NFL. The unit’s run blocking improved as the season progressed, with running back Kenyan Drake leading the NFL with 444 rushing yards over the final five weeks. In his first season with the team in 2016, Kuper helped the Dolphins to their most successful campaign in eight years, winning 10 games and advancing to the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Miami won nine of its final 11 games. During those 11 contests, the team ranked No. 3 in the NFL with 132.9 rushing yards per game and tied for third with just 13 sacks allowed. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had the most efficient season of his career, setting career highs in quarterback rating (93.5), yards per attempt (7.7) and completion percentage (67.1). Running back Jay Ajayi rushed for 1,272 yards, the third-most in a single season in Dolphins history. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry caught 94 passes, the fourth-most in a single season in team history.
