Overview

Romance, enduring and timeless, was one of the most important discussion points during this session. “Grand Passion” encompasses not only an emotional side but also materials as we embrace noble material; specifically metals that don’t oxidize, staying true to their form as we want to stay true to heart.

From this, metallic finishes and interference pigments are important across all . The “Hack Attack” can appear , or depending on your viewing angle and . Every color was discussed using possible special effects and the desire to “shape shift” our has never been stronger.

The special effects colors come to our passion for science and technology. Not only is tech part of our daily lives but will drive new techniques for color and product going forward. But our technology will occasionally get a “time out” as we return, once again, to things and colors that are authentic and real.

We have frugal fatigue and bright, fresh colors will get us through those days, helping us celebrate something beautiful, something wild or something exotic. For those days when “upbeat” is too much, we can retreat to self-reflection and romance. There are misted violets and that have an earthy mysticism and values that carry us from dismal days to better times ahead.

Through it all, our need to be grounded, whether with hues reminiscent of times past or the strength of a familiar , was important in all discussions and for palettes going forward.

The colors:

Reds Sticky Sweet (bright) It's a red that suggests the romantic blood coursing in our veins. It provides a punch, a moment of brightness and a bit of naughtiness. After all, it is passionate. But it can also be delicious to look at; it’s the red of a candy apple, of a hot rod’s paint job and your valentine’s roses.

Sanded (pale shell) This conjurer of faded romanticism is frothy with the comfort of fluff and frosting. From our continuing love of swirls and puff atop our sweets, this is slightly off with the softened look of frosting. The color will appear matte in products with details such as sanded glass and sueded surfaces.

Green Hack Attack This is an update on nature with tech effects. It can be chameleon when paired special effect pigments; shifting from green to red to copper. It finds its identity rooted in nature; especially the landscapes of South America. The influence of Brazil and other Central and South American countries’ natural surroundings provide a new source of inspiration for . As color changes in nature, so will this green. It is authentic under its guise of technology.

Blue Feathered A bit of Rio celebration , a bit of postwar retro and a bit of 80s glam come together in this - based . It heralds the return of teal and but is natural and fresh. From Rio comes the nature and passion of the country and Carnivale, the postwar era introduced many to aqua and the glam of jewel tones is made new with a color as crisp as the Dom Pedro aquamarine just released to public view. It is, however, new. This color is not mimicking or mocking the past. It is noble (natural materials) and respectful.

Shaman One of the mystically influenced hues, this ethereal color stands for our quest for spiritual awareness, alternative thinking and the wish to do right by others. In a time of self-reflection, this almost transparent color can be a protective shroud of soft, pale blue. Pearlized

Violet AND THEN THERE’S MAUVE (key color) It’s time. Mauve returns. But as a romantic version of the true mauve known in Europe; and seen through reminiscing and loves past. In addition, it is part of a spiritual journey and its misted appearance is carried through the heavens making it mystical and enlightening. This key color represented many areas of discussion with its ability to colorshift, be mystical, romantic and, look natural.
