In 2020, organizers expect to see all of the above ramped up as a new, high-powered title sponsor steps in to add punch and prestige. By Matt McKay The American Express, the Desert Classic tournament’s new name, will be played January 16-19 on the same La Quinta-based courses as last year—PGA West Stadium and Tournament courses and La Quinta Country Club. With society currently engaged in fall and winter sports, not to mention upcoming major holidays, the new year and the PGA Tour’s 2020 calendar seem a long way off. The American Express is coming to town and it’s going to be the biggest and best one yet,” says Jeff Sanders of Lagardere Sports, the tournament’s executive director. “We’re getting set to deliver some great entertainment to all our fans. You know how we do it. It’s golf by day, music by night. It’s Golfchella.” Player commitments tend to come rolling in around the first of December, and the American Express stands ready to benefit from the second year of the PGA Tour’s adjusted majors’ calendar. Top players who might have considered skipping the tournament in the past, when the season’s second major wasn’t just over a month after the first, front-loaded their schedules in 2019. The former Desert Classic benefitted greatly, boasting one of its best fields in years. Sanders believes the event is positioned perfectly during the tour’s West Coast swing. As a result, many players will come to the desert and establish a base for The American Express and the other Southern California events on the schedule,” he says. When we came back to Germany Alexandra played the German Team Championship with her Club-Team (Golf und Landclub Berlin Wannsee) and could make the Silver Medal age up to 14. This directory was compiled to assist you in your preparation for a season on the PGA TOUR. The Player Handbook includes a 2017-2018 tournament schedule and covers such top- ics as special event eligibility and special awards. The Tournament Regulations are the guide to specific rules pertaining to PGA TOUR play. We have incorporated changes made to the Tournament Regulations since last season into this season’s book. In addition, the index provides quick reference. These Regulations are the final authority on the operations and policies of the PGA TOUR. Jay Monahan Commissioner PGA TOUR SIGNIFICANT CHANGES FOR THE 2017-2018 SEASON • Elimination of the Official Money List Leader exemption beginning with the leader of the 2016-2017 season. • The Top 125 Official Money List category has been eliminated. • Introduction of PGA TOUR Integrity program which among other things prohibits players from betting on professional golf. • Amendments to the Pace of Play Policy. • Amendments to the Player Endorsement Policy to exclude sponsorships by FedEx competitors. • Addition of an official pro-am format whereby one professional plays the first nine holes and a second professional plays the second nine holes. • Changes to the One New Event Played Per Season Requirement to exclude any first-year official money event. • Changes to the Ryder Cup points structure.
