  • Exclusive Interview: Andy Williams, Knee Surgeon to the Stars, Maps out Road Back for Virgil Van Dijk
NEWS WEBSITE OF THE YEAR My Feed Coronavirus News Politics Sport Business Money Opinion Tech Life Style Travel See all Sport Exclusive interview: Andy Williams, knee surgeon to the stars, maps out road back for Virgil van Dijk Orthopaedic consultant has saved the careers of countless sportspeople including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Ings and Jonny May By Jason Burt, CHIEF FOOTBALL CORRESPONDENT 20 October 2020 • 1:28pm 9 If Virgil van Dijk is seeking solace as he confronts the long, painful path to recovery from his serious knee ligament injury, Andy Williams is probably the man to provide it. Williams is regarded as the world’s foremost surgeon when it comes to ACL and knee injuries and there is not a professional footballer who has not heard of him. The 56-year- old has saved countless careers including Van Dijk's current and former team-mates at Liverpool - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Ings - Newcastle's new £20 million signing Callum Wilson, whom he operated on four times, and England rugby wing Jonny May. It remains to be seen whether Williams will be involved in Van Dijk's recovery, but whilst this interview took place before the Dutchman's ill-fated collision with Jordan Pickford at Everton last Saturday, his words provide a blueprint on how to manage a recovery. ADVERTISING Trust is fundamental to the relationship between patient and doctor, and Williams has earned it from his clients - so much so that everyone mentioned by him in our interview at the Fortius Clinic where he works in central London gave consent for their cases to be discussed.

I loved John Denver. Janis Joplin. Rolling Stones. Roger Miller’s “Little Green Apples.” It goes on and on. —Gayle Cmiel Songs become personal. Some even stir the soul, transporting us to people, places, and events, from the first note. With each generation, records of the 1960s spin anew. They open in glimpses and raw totality that picturesque decade, a kaleidoscope of soaring melodies, striking chord changes, discordant notes, and—because life can be that way, too—simple verses. The dynamics become part of our own soundtracks. The mysteries Cream, Disraeli Gears, 1967 in The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” might play as scenes in your neighborhood, piccolo included. When Dionne Warwick sings about heartache visiting her relationship similar circumstances might prompt you to cue the song again—and again. WHO'S WHO AT MTM RECORDS 21 Music Square* E. Nashville, TN 37203 (615)242-1931 The concept for the MTM Music Group originally came about back in 1982 when Alan Bernard "had an Idea". He remembers, "I didn't know what it was. I got in contact with Howard (Stark), and we developed the MTM concept." When Tommy West joined them, the triumvirate was complete and after two years of research the MTM Music Group quietly opened its doors in Nashville. The emphasis has been on developing new talent rather than buying established acts. Tommy West notes, "We think its more fun and pays off in every way if we take our philosophy of building talented people from the ground up." They must be doing something right, for look at the results in reviewing their current roster: ALMOST BROTHERS Have had two singles released, "Don't Tell Me Love Is Kind" and "Birds Of A Feather", both charted CHISUM & SANDERS No product released yet HOLLY DUNN Two single releases, "Playin'For Keeps" and "My Heart Holds On". • Line by Line: Sharing Ourselves & Our Stories
LINE BY LINE: SHARING OURSELVES & OUR STORIES TORONTO PUBLIC LIBRARY ABOUT THIS PUBLICATION What is literacy? Is it the ability to read and write? Is it being able to communicate? Literacy is much more than this. It is having the skills to identify, understand, interpret and create in the digital world that we now live in. It is a fundamental human right. More than 50 years ago, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially declared September 8th to be International Literacy Day. On this day, the international community celebrates and actively promotes literacy for all. Line by Line: Sharing Ourselves & Our Stories is a commemorative compilation of writing that celebrates the creation of written expression. It strives to give a voice to those individuals in Toronto working at improving their literacy skills. Many hands and minds helped create this book. From short stories to life stories, the written work from adult learners across Toronto reflects their achievements. All submissions were printed with minimal edits and changes in order to preserve the authenticity of their voices. Thank you to all of the dedicated learners in the many adult literacy programs in Toronto. May your efforts keep you achieving and growing. A special thank you to the learners from the Library’s Adult Literacy Program, whose hard work and perseverance was the inspiration of this book. Thank you to all the dedicated tutors, literacy instructors and Adult Literacy Office Coordinators who guided and encouraged their learners. Without your support, these programs would not be possible. This book is dedicated to adult literacy learners everywhere who have something to say and a message worth noting.
