2016 C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP PEAK PERFORMERS The 2016 Conference USA Championship presented by Buffalo Wild Wings will return Throughout the 2016 season, we’ll track some of the top individual performances to Hattiesburg, Miss., for the third year in a row and the sixth time in the league’s around Conference USA: history. NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH USM’S BRALEY NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF Southern Miss sophomore 3B Taylor Braley was named the inaugural NCBWA MONTH National Hitter of the Month for February. He batted .480 with five home runs, 12 The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has released its RBI and 10 runs scored. National Player of the Month awards for February and Southern Miss sophomore third baseman Taylor Braley was named National Hitter of the Month. NCBWA February Taylor Braley 3B Southern Miss Braley has started the season on a tear, homering five times in Southern Miss’ first seven games – two more blasts than he had in all of 2015 – and posting a seven-game hitting streak. He boasts a .480 batting average, 12 RBI and 10 runs, a 1.160 slugging TWO C-USA PLAYERS NAMED ACADEMIC ALL- percentage and a .618 on-base mark to lead the Golden Eagles to a perfect 7-0 start. He homered in each game to lead Southern Miss to a three–game sweep of Eastern DISTRICT Illinois on opening weekend and finished last weekend’s series against Northwestern Middle Tennessee senior RHP Garrett Ring and WKU sophomore OF Kaleb State with dingers in each of the last two contests. Duckworth were each named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team on May 5. With the all-district honors, they now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-,second- and third-team All-America selections will be picked later this month.
