Throughout their lives, philanthropy and giving back to their community was a priority. Since their childhood days in Atlantic City, the JCC had a special place in their hearts. As teenagers, they were paired together as Queen Esther and King Ahasuerus at a Purim celebration at the Camp by the Sea. Atlantic County always held a special place in their hearts, and their vision was to ensure that families who lacked the financial means to participate in the children programs at the JCC would be provided with scholarship assistance. As a result, numerous children have been able to enjoy the many life enriching programs and services offered by the Katz JCC. While it was devastating to lose both Jackie and Hank in 2014, we are proud that their philanthropic legacy can live on through the Jackie and Hank Herskowitz Annual JCC Sports Night. Page 13 On this night and throughout the year, the Landau Family supports the Herskowitz Family Proud supporter of the Milton & Betty Katz JCC and the Jackie and Hank Herskowitz Sports Night. Debbie & George Miller Page 14 Jaclyn Ehrlich Sadly, on August 8, 2021, we lost a loving member of our community, Jaclyn Ehrlich, at the young age of 18. Diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma two and a half years ago, Jaclyn endured numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries throughout her battle against this cancer. Jaclyn was a light in everyone’s life who knew her and loved her. Her courage and strength was an inspiration to us all and she will hold a special place in all our hearts. Although Jaclyn did not attend camp at the JCC in Margate, Jaclyn did attend another summer camp as a camper and then worked many years as a counselor. During such time, Jaclyn cast her light and joy on many campers and enriched all of their lives. This year, in Jaclyn’s memory, we are starting the Jaclyn Ehrlich Scholarship to support a child who wishes to attend summer camp who otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Through this scholarship, we hope to continue the joy and happiness that Jaclyn gave to everyone that had the privilege to know and love her. Page 15 TOGETHER FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE Every connection, every journey and every touch point at the JCC leads to experiences that underscore the heart and soul of our community. People of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds rely on us for social, physical and educational experiences. They look to connect with others, to support their health and wellness, and to experience the joys of a welcoming community center rooted in Jewish values. As a 501c3, not-for-profit community center, we rely heavily philanthropic support to continue to provide the programs and services to our community, both within and beyond our walls. The gifts that you contribute to the Katz JCC support our programs that enhance the lives of people in your community. Even the smallest amount will make an impact on our fundraising goal. Join our team as we invest in our community, provide scholarships and financial aid to members, and encourage healthy living for all ages. “With this scholarship I was able to complete nursing school and become a Registered Nurse. ESPN’S Mike Tirico said, “If you made a list of 10 guys on TV in any sport as an analyst who you'd want to have a beverage with and watch a game, he’s [Ron Jaworski] high on that list.” Before switching to his current multiplatform analyst role with ESPN, Ron spent five seasons in the booth with Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden as the color commentator for Monday Night Football. Jaworski’s passion for football can be traced back to his days as a kid growing up in the gritty steel town of Lackawanna, NY. A three-sport stand out in high school (football, basketball and baseball), Jaworski was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school. He wanted to go play baseball immediately, but his father pushed for college first, and Jaworski’s football talents brought him to Youngstown State where he excelled as the quarterback for the Penguins. The Los Angeles Rams drafted Jaworski in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft. After four years with the Rams, Jaworski joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1977.
