This site was accompanied by a post office and the homes of many settlers. Look for the pilings of the old dock.

B Skidegate Village - This fast growing Haida community boasts an extensive collection of Haida artifacts and ever changing local and international exhibits in the Haida Gwaii Museum, the first stop visitors to the Islands should make. See the Dog Fish pole on Front Street, carved by internationally acclaimed Haida artists Bill Reid and Guujaaw.

C Spirit Lake Trail - 4 km of gravel and boardwalk encircle two small lakes. Choose to walk the full loop or shorter circuits described on routing maps posted throughout the trail. An excellent family picnic destination. Look for culturally modified trees and eagles perched in lake side trees. An excellent family picnic destination.

D Balance Rock - This large boulder (an erratic) which originated far inland on Graham Island sits precariously out of place on the flat bedrock sea shore. Ten thousand years ago when a glacier covered the Islands it was deposited in its present location by the receding ice.

E Jungle Beach - The best stretch of easily accessible sandy beach on the east coast of Graham Island. Spanning several kilometers, it is an ideal walking beach at a mid to low tide. The beach is so named for the 'jungle' of logs that come ashore. Look for the large carved eagle and bear marking the entrance.

F St Mary's Spring - Legend has it that those who drink from this spring will return to the Islands. Enjoy fabulous views of and listen for the blowing sound of the navigation buoys.

G Tlell - A community of a few hundred people situated near the mouth of the Tlell River, noted for its world famous fly fishing experience. From pottery to driftwood carvings- artists, artisans and gallery shops abound.

H Pesuta Trail - A combination forest and beach walk opens to the mouth of the Tlell River and up to the remains of the ship that ran aground in 1928, the Pesuta. The freight carried on this vessel was happily used in constructing several homes in Tlell. The hike takes an entire afternoon (10km return), best to begin your hike on a falling tide.

I Onward Point - A short 10 minute walk that is well worth the stop. Leaving the parking lot, enter the fern-strewn path that leads to a bedrock beach. Climb the stone staircase to the gazebo where, given the season (April to June), Grey whales can be sighted.

J Dover Trail - Sample Moresby Island's old growth forest and find spruce, hemlock and cedar giants. Begin both the Hans Creek loop and the longer Sandspit Skyline loop just west of the Hans Creek bridge.

K Secret Cove - A short 1 km walk leads to a quiet and secluded beach aptly named Secret cove. If you’re looking to walk a little further, an abandoned spur road arched with Alder trees leads from this trail to Sheldens Bay.

L Grey Bay - A beautiful crescent shaped sandy beach frequently used by residents and tourists alike. A favorite spot to camp and hike. The 24km Cumshewa Head trail begins at Grey Bay. It moves between beach and forest, following the east coast of Moresby Island. Walk a portion of it and enjoy combinations of thick salal and curious seals.

M Aero Camp - Rails to trails. Walking or mountain biking this former railway line from Skidegate Lake to Cumshewa Inlet showcases an industrial history of the Queen Charlotte Islands. See moss covered steam donkey engines, sections of corduroy road and the remains of Aero Camp, where Sitka spruce logs were cut for use in the construction of Mosquito bomber aircraft during WWII.
