We are so happy that you have joined us for this celebration of Christ’s love in Catholic Education. A hearty “welcome” to all our guests, especially those joining us for the first time. Recently, Archbishop George Lucas released a new vision for the Archdiocese of Omaha: “The Archdiocese of Omaha is to be a part of the living Body of Christ, welcoming and inviting persons to live as vibrant disciples of Jesus Christ so that all may respond to their vocation to holiness, be sent out as leaven to transform the world, and fulfill their deepest human desire.” As a parish of the Archdiocese of Omaha, this is our vision as well, but we also have one of our own: “Walking With You to Meet Jesus”. Norfolk Catholic School has so many successes to celebrate, but more than anything else, we place lives changed by Jesus at the top of the list. When people find their home in Him, they have inherited something eternal. This is what animates our life at Norfolk Catholic – walking with one another toward Christ. We are grateful for your generosity. What you give this evening directly affects our ability to impact the lives of our students and their families, not only now, but for eternal life. It is that important. Please know that you and your family are remembered in our daily prayers. Have fun tonight. We hope that you leave with every reason to tell others that Sacred Heart Parish and Norfolk Catholic School is the place where lives are being changed. In gratitude, Fr. Thank you for joining us for the 26th Annual Spirit Dinner Auction. On behalf of the many volunteers and parish and school staff members who have worked very hard to make this evening an enjoyable and fruitful celebration, we welcome you! Tonight we celebrate the gift of Catholic Education that we all enjoy here in Norfolk and salute the sacrifices that have been made by so many over the course of the past 90 years. Those sacrifices are what has made Norfolk Catholic School what it is today! We especially want to recognize our faculty this evening - their commitment to our children and the unselfish way that they serve our school community on a daily basis is the ultimate expression of stewardship. It has been our privilege to serve as chairs for this event. Together we all share in the mission of Norfolk Catholic School to “Walk With You to Meet Jesus”. We understand this mission is not to be lived only when it is convenient for us, but every day with everyone we meet. This mission can only be achieved when we all bring our best gifts forward and offer them in joyful surrender and service to our Lord. That is our mission as disciples. That is what has inspired us in planning tonight’s event. That is our hope for this evening as well. As you look around tonight, please note the wonderful donations and gifts contributed by so many organizations and individuals. For the past 26 years, our community and supporters have bestowed upon our school a wonderful spirit of giving that allows our children to achieve success in academics, fine arts and extra-curricular activities in a faith based environment. This outpouring of support is the foundation of Spirit. Tonight, we have the opportunity to show our own grateful response for the gift of Catholic Education. We thank you, our guests, for your loyalty and generosity. We hope you have an enjoyable and entertaining evening! When SPIRIT began 26 years ago, its primary mission was to help fund teacher’s salaries. The mission remains – SPIRIT helps meet our total budget, 78% of which consists of salaries and salary related expenses! Teachers always have been and always will be our most important asset. During our last Strategic Planning process with staff members and stakeholders, we discussed at length the disparity in pay that exists between teachers within our system and what they could be receiving elsewhere. This is a hindrance to our school as we look to attract and maintain the best talent possible.
