Frank Caliendo WORLDWIDE SPEAKERS GROUP LLC YOUR GLOBAL PARTNER IN THOUGHT LEADERSHIP FRANK CALIENDO Comedian, actor, and impressionist Frank Caliendo has been making people laugh his entire life. He is well known for his impressions of famous actors Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro; politicians George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama; broadcasters John Madden, Charles Barkley and Jon Gruden; and talk show hosts Dr. Phil, Jay Leno, and David Letterman. On stage, Caliendo’s high energy act is a blend of observations, impressions, characters and anecdotal stories that start at a frenetic pace and never let up. Appropriately described by the Hollywood Reporter as "a combination of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey," Caliendo is one comedian that should not be missed. After completing an impressive 10-year run on the FOX NFL Sunday Pregame show, Frank recently found a new home over at ESPN, where he joined the cast of the Sunday NFL Countdown. Realizing that ESPN has a plethora of strong personalities, Frank has added to his already vast arsenal of impressions, a new set of highly entertaining sports persona, including analysts like Jon Gruden, Mel Kiper, Jr., Ron “Jaws” Jaworski, Coach Mike Ditka, Adam Schefter, and Chris “Boomer” Berman. Beyond ESPN’s NFL show, Frank’s segments have appeared on Sports Center and his “Gruden QB Camp” segments and Super Bowl “Richard Sherman 30 for 30” mocumentary have gone viral across the web. An eleven year veteran of television sketch comedy as a cast member on MADtv and starring in his own series Frank TV, Caliendo has been a fixture on television for the last decade. He has comedy specials that run regularly on TBS and Comedy Central and he is a regular on the talk show circuit performing on such shows as The View, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Tonight Show, and Late Show with David Letterman. Though Frank can be highly known for his variety of sports-related impressions, he makes his live shows appealing for everyone in the audience by continually including a little bit of every major genre - sports, political figures, and celebrities. Franks live shows are also clean and family friendly. 99 CANAL CENTER PLAZA, SUITE 100 O: 703.373.9974 ALEXANDRIA, VA 22314 wwsg.com .

A brilliant neo-western that takes risks aplenty and gets its rewards. Strong performances all round, although particular mention must go to Ben Foster who de- livers a career best. This film also firmly established writer Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Wind River), as one of the best scriptwriters of his generation. If you are looking for an insight into the new west, look no further than here folks! – Liam UNFORGIVEN (USA 1992) Directed by and starring CLINT! One of my favorite Westerns with my favorite actor. The line “It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man “ensures Eastwood delivers a raw well-constructed western that is a daring and provocative vision of the old west. Great performances also from Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman. The violence feels remarkably realistic and the extraordinarily thrilling climatic shootout is worth the wait! – Jamie THE GRAND DUEL (Italy 1972) Ex-Sheriff (Lee Van Cleef) tracks down and begrudgingly helps a man framed for murder in this fantastic Spaghetti Western. Opening with a very 'flippy' gunfight and escape, things just get better as these two trade barbs while beinchased across country.

  • WINTHROP MAGAZINE Winter 2015 MESSAGE from the PRESIDENT
WINTHROP MAGAZINE Winter 2015 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Friends: The campus community remains energized about the search for Winthrop’s 11th president. As you know, I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the university’s Acting President since last summer. This time of transition has been fruitful for the campus, as together we have made strides consonant with the campus priorities endorsed by the Winthrop University Board of Trustees: • Increase student enrollment, retention, and degree completion; • Continue to support excellence in academic and student life programming; • Enhance the work environment for faculty and staff; and, • Expand not only Winthrop’s role as a partner in the region’s economic growth but also the number of Winthrop supporters inspired to invest in the university’s future. In the not-too-distant future, I will return to my position as provost and vice president for academic affairs; and a new president will come aboard to lead our institution. The good work of the President Search Committee has brought us from more than 80 active candidates to three finalists who have just visited our campus to get to know our community and to be interviewed by representatives of key constituent groups. Feedback from these stakeholders even now shapes discussion among board members who will soon select Winthrop’s next president. My deep appreciation goes out to all who have participated in the search and to those who have watched the process with interest from afar. Your input has been invaluable. I also thank you for the support you have given me personally during this time, as we have worked together to ensure that students remain our highest priority at Winthrop and that they continue to receive the exemplary education for which this university is known.

  • RELATIONS "This Is My Commandment, That You Love One Another (Ἀγαπᾶτε) As I Have Loved (Ἠγάπησα) You
RELATIONS "This is my commandment, that you love one another (ἀγαπᾶτε) as I have loved (ἠγάπησα) you. No one has greater love (ἀγάπην) than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 15:12f There are several words in Greek for the one English word, “love”. I thought I would illustrate their meaning with reference to Hollywood. The first two words are Eros (ἔρως) which means to be infatuated with a person, an object or an idea, and storge (στοργή), which is familial love, the love of parents (and grandparents) for their children. Then two other words: φιλέω and ἀγαπάω. The first means to have a warm affection for another and the second, to wish one well. The ancient Greeks considered Eros to be dangerous and frightening as it involved a “loss of control,” as though to say, “I couldn’t help myself.” It is the appreciation of beauty both external and within. It’s what we view frequently on the silver screen. I would guess that most movies at the moment are romances. To be a success in my book they need to have a memorable musical score and demonstrate that “the path of true love never did run smooth.”1 The lovers need to fight, separate, or even die. I have chosen West Side Story (1957), Leonard Bernstein’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.2 The Jets and the Sharks are two gangs who are bitter enemies, fighting for turf in New York City. Tony and Maria, members of rival gangs, fall in love and sing: “Make of our hands one hand; make of our hearts one heart.” After the rumble, Chino who was engaged to marry Maria shoots Tony and he dies in his lover’s arms.
