REPORTER (Full-time, Regular – 3 positions available)

KMSP the FOX affiliate in the Twin Cities of /St. Paul has an opening for a multi-media journalist. The ideal candidate will provide examples of aggressively pursuing important and relevant enterprise stories. FOX 9 seeks reporters who have a dynamic on-camera presentation who add information and perspective in a live report situation. Candidates must also possess strong presentation skills, strong work ethic, broad knowledge of current affairs, the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals, have an aptitude for social media, and passion for innovation. You will be expected to contribute content on- air, and to other platforms including our website and social media. In addition, qualified candidates must meet all of our core newsroom competencies which includes: Using the latest technology to gather and distribute content in real time across multiple platforms, possessing a strong interest in current event and a desire to mine for and share information in a compelling manner, being a multi-faceted journalist who can write, present, produce, and share information on–air, online and through social media, embraces the evolution and vision of the newsroom by adapted to and successfully executing news innovations in content sharing and technology, being a self-started and a person who digs for news and can build relationships with leaders and members of the community that he/she lives and covers, and consistently demonstrating our Station’s values of excellence, professionalism, collaboration and innovation. At least 3 years reporting experience is required to be considered. B.A. or equivalent degree in Journalism preferred.

MORNING SHOW PRODUCER (Full-time, Regular)

Fox 9 News has an immediate opening for our number one rated- Fox 9 Morning Newscast. We are excited to add another player on our highly driven morning team.

We are searching for a producer who is multi-faceted and can be agile with their responsibilities. Duties include, but are not limited to crafting newscast, writing stories and creating graphics. Producer must have strong boothing skills and work under deadline pressure. Producer would also contribute to all of our social media platforms.

Candidates must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of television production techniques and newsroom computer systems is required. Knowledge of Internet publishing and related skills strongly preferred. We require experience in a medium to major market and a four-year college degree.

MULTI-PLATFORM ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (Full-time, Regular)

Do you have a passion for local TV news and want to join the Fox 9 producing staff? We are searching for a multi-platform associate producer. Qualified candidates will assist more senior line producers with writing and production of newscasts. Duties include, but are not limited to writing stories, crafting segments and creating graphics. Must be able to write packages, vo's and vo/sot's quickly and under deadline pressure. Associate producer would also train as back-up to all newscasts, as well as contribute to all of our social media and digital platforms.

Candidates must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of television production techniques and newsroom computer systems is required. Knowledge of Internet publishing and related skills strongly preferred. Four year college degree required. Two years previous newsroom experience preferred.

SUPERVISING PRODUCER – INVESTIGATIVE UNIT (Full-time, Regular)

FOX 9/KMSP has an immediate opening for a Supervising Producer for our Emmy award winning Investigative unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investigative reporting, experience in data driven journalism, and deep knowledge of research and paper trails. We are looking for a strong writer with experience with copy editing long form scripts.

• Responsible for Investigative unit logistics, including crew assignments, editing schedules, overtime management. • Collaborate with News Director on monthly strategy with an emphasis on sweeps periods • Responsible for oversight of all aspects of production including, story generation, production technique, and editorial quality of the investigative segments. Will be expected to give regular feedback to reporters, producers, photographers and editors. • Responsible for all script approval of investigative pieces. • Liaison between station and legal department

CREATIVE SERVICES

CREATIVE MANAGER (Full-time, Regular) KMSP / WFTC Creative Manager: Oversees all on-air promotion and programming production planning, development, scheduling and execution for KMSP and WFTC, including original production, digital post treatment and web related promotion media. Works with VP/Creative services to develop marketing strategies and tactics based on station needs, creates and executes major marketing campaigns for news, web related entities, station projects and other key programming. In addition, will and execute station image campaign, branding and development of consistent on-air presentation. This position entails direct supervision of producers, videographers, editors and on-air personalities, working with them to ensure consistency of tone and message. Responsibilities include strategic planning of breakthrough creative, development and review of promo copy from other producers, review and approval of promotional graphics, conducting regular meetings with producers/designers to brainstorm and manage timelines and prioritize day-to-day assignments. Position demands a constant flow of “out of the norm” creative ideas for TV station promotion and branding, superior script writing skills, strong organizational skills, innovative and seasoned production skills, and a good sense of research and targeting using Nielsen research.

Must be able to identify challenges and develop creative solutions on tight deadlines. Must be willing to effectively present and sell ideas internally, and able to work around other departments’ needs and schedules to accomplish goals. 5 years’ experience in Broadcast Promotion, preferably with previous managerial or supervisory experience. College Degree Required Working knowledge, preferable proficiency in AVID editing and/or Final cut pro, in addition to working knowledge of Photoshop, after effects and a strong sense of navigating in various social media platforms and digital apps. Must be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple productions and personnel. Flexibility to switch gears from one project to another with short notice, and ready to improvise new solutions with limited resources and/or time. Capable of making quick decisions, and able to take advantage of promotional opportunities on short notice (i.e. breaking news coverage. In addition, must be up to date on competition in the market, as well as trends/innovations in the industry. Open minded to feedback and able to adjust accordingly to reach station goals. Teaching skills to advance production staff and great people skills to handle a range of personalities.

ENGINEERING

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (Full-time, Regular)

KMSP/WFTC -TV is in need of a qualified full time Engineering Technician. 3 years of experience in broadcast television and/or AV environment or equivalent collage degree is recommended. This position would be responsible for staffing our Master Control and Production Control Room environments. Responsibilities: Master Control operations: including monitoring to keep in FCC compliance. Programming, promotional and commercial ingest and preparation into master control automation systems. Recording of satellite feeds and FTP of content into the master control automation servers. Maintaining of and broadcast logs: Assisting Newscast Directors during live newscast and breaking news and weather. Assist the Maintenance Technicians with projects that may include moving and installing equipment and the pulling and preparing of cables in our broadcast facility.Production Automation Director Co-Operator during live and pre-recorded newscasts and segments. Production Automation coding of newscast and segments and promos for live and pre-recorded broadcasts.

Basic knowledge of television equipment and operations is preferred. We are a 24/7 television broadcast center and this position will be scheduled both AM and PM shifts, weekends and most Holidays. Vacation relief will be one of the responsibilities of this job so scheduled days off may change. Must be willing to join IBEW local 292 as a requirement of this job.

SALES

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Full-time, Regular)

KMSP/WFTC currently has an opening for an Account Executive. The successful candidate must possess proven sales skills including: ability to identify qualified targets, strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Top Rated Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, My Network TV, Web Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as pending business and new business trackers.

Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four year college degree is required. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of media related software and research tools is also a plus.
