BCI STANDARD SETTING AND REVISION COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENTATION

1- Manuel Delgado

Manuel is General Manager at JFS . He joined the organisation seven years ago restructuring the operation with extraordinary results. Prior to his work at JFS, Manuel worked for 13 years in the Portuguese dairy and fruit industries as a general manager. He is passionate about his work and always eager to transform any challenge into a reality. Manual graduated in agronomy.

2- Murli Dhar

Murli is Director of the WWF-’s Programme, notably working on footprint and biodiversity issues in farming practices. With more than 15 years’ experience in the field, Murli has been devoted to his career to agriculture ever since graduating in Agricultural Economics. His work intersects primarily with in agriculture including water, emissions, biodiversity and trade.

3- Bill Anderson

Bill Anderson is Vice President of Social & Environmental Affairs for the adidas Group; a position he has held for the past 16 years. He manages a team of 40 staff, comprising labour specialists, safety engineers and environmental experts, located in 11 countries across Asia and the Middle East. William has 32 years’ experience in managing social and environmental issues and has worked as an advisor to corporations and to governments.

4- Gregory Jean

Gregory is the Standard and Learning Manager at BCI. He has been working in voluntary standard system setting for the last seven years on assurance and innovation (such as Ecosystem services certification). He is leading the 2015 standard revision at BCI and connects the Standard Setting and Revision Committee with BCI Standard revision project team. He facilitates and coordinates the Committee’s activities.

5- Sarvareddy Venku Reddy

Prof. Sarvareddy Venku Reddy is an Agricultural Extension Specialist with over four decades of experience in teaching, research, training and extension work connected with agricultural and rural development. He has hands-on experience in extension services management, sustainable agriculture, institutional development, evaluation and capacity building programmes. Prof. Reddy has worked in India and Africa as Professor, Advisor and Consultant to different National and International institutions including the World Bank and FAO.

6- Isabelle Roger

Isabelle has been working in the field of sustainability in the cotton sector since 2008, first with the Better Cotton Initiative and currently with Solidaridad. Through her experience she has gained an in depth understanding of the sustainability challenges associated with cotton production. On the Committee, Isabelle will also draw on the field experience and expertise of her Solidaridad colleagues from across Asia and Africa

7- Shahid Saleem

Shahid, (MSc Hons Agriculture), is Executive Director of REEDS- . He has 16 years’ experience in community development. For four years he served as an Agriculture & Environment Programme Coordinator with CARITAS-Pakistan and prior to this, worked for the Pakistani Government as Deputy Director. Shahid has been implementing, monitoring and evaluating BCI projects from last three years, while involved with IPM, ICM, BMP from last 16 years with collaboration of ICCO, IDH, CARITAS, WWF-Pakistan, etc.

8- Amit Shah

A MBA graduate from America, Amit Shah joined the spinning business in 1998. With the vision of setting up a business model of value creation from farmers to consumers, he established Spectrum International, a company which back in 1998 was one of the first in India to foray into Organic Cotton and work with marginal farmers. Today, his company is a BCI Implementing Partner and Integrated Spinner and Trader member. Amit also represents the supplier and manufacturers caucus as a member of the BCI Council.

9- Fuat Tanman

Fuat is member of a family that has been farming for more than a century and cultivating cotton for the past 65 years. Their farm is located in Aydın province, on the Aegean coast of . Combining his international studies with local family experience, Fuat is strongly committed to implement BCI standards into his farming practices. He is also the vice chairman of the board of directors of IPUD, who are is BCI’s Strategic Partner in Turkey.

10- Scott Vitters

Scott is responsible for the planning and execution of Nike’s strategy for creating value through environmental excellence in manufacturing. He leads a global team of associates focused on performance improvements in energy, waste, water and chemistry to help the business realise its sustainable manufacturing business goals.
