Brief guide for football fans travelling throughout during Euro 2012 with PKP Intercity trains

Poland & Ukraine Euro 2012 Championship come along. PKP Intercity has prepared a special guide for fans that are going to travel by rail in Poland. The guide answers basic questions, e.g. where information can be found or the easiest way to buy a ticket.

What is PKP Intercity?

PKP Intercity is the biggest Polish long-distance railway operator on domestic and international train network. The Company operates local trains Twoje Linie Kolejowe (TLK) of economic class as well as Express (Ex) and Express InterCity (EIC) train sets of increased standard and also international fast trains including EuroNight (EN) and EuroCity (EC).

How can you reach Poland by train?

PKP Intercity and its foreign partners run several dozen international railway links between Poland and Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania and even Holland daily. You can check a date and time of any connection at a local railway operator website or at www..pl and buy tickets at ticket offices or on-line so far as it is possible.

Where can you find information?

The best source of information is the carrier website, www.intercity.pl, available in four languages (Polish, English, German and Russian). There is also one Euro 2012™dedicated tab at the website where a passenger can find any information on PKP Intercity links. PKP Intercity has also prepared an informatory brochures in English, German, Spanish, Russian, Croatian, Italian and Czech languages for visitors. The brochures will be available at stations in the host cities. Passengers can also use a call center where information will be available in three languages: Polish, English and Russian. The call center numbers are as follows: +48 42 19 436 or +48 22 19 436 (all types of telephones) or +48 19 757 (excluding mobiles). In addition, a so called ‘mobile information’ and special interpretation centres for passengers will be available during Euro 2012 at stations in the host cities.

Furthermore, some volunteers wearing special clothes indicating a language used by them will help passengers at stations.

How can you reach a match during Euro 2012 and get back?

The domestic railway service will run trains reaching any host city three hours before kickoff. Any departure will be realized an hour and a half after end of the match or a half an hour after closing of the fan zone. In total, about 950 trains holding almost 475 thousand passengers will run during Euro 2012 throughout Poland between the host cities to ensure comfortable travel.

Where can you buy tickets for domestic trains of PKP Intercity?

You can buy tickets for all domestic connections at www.intercity.pl. You need only to register at the website, choose a connection and go to e-IC sale system: https://bilet.intercity.pl. You can print your ticket or reproduce it using any electronic device that can display QR code with dimensions 25x25 mm. Tickets are also available at ticket offices at stations. You can also use one of 151 automatic ticket machines that ensure communication in Polish and English. During Euro 2012™, mobile conductors will sell tickets at stations, too.

Did PKP Intercity prepare any special offers for fans during Euro 2012?

PKP Intercity has become a partner of international program Polish Pass – a single card with encoded service spectrum, e.g. hotel booking, medical insurance, airplane tickets, municipal transport services and PKP IC transport services. You can find more information on Polish Pass at http://polishguide2012.pl/pl/polish-pass. The carrier offers also ICkarnet that lets on unlimited number of journeys within three consecutive days. It is available at box offices at stations.

Between 8th June and 1st July 2012, the European Football Championship, UEFA EURO 2012™, will take place in Poland and Ukraine. 16 national teams will take part in the tournament. Matches will be played in four Polish cities: Warszawa, Poznao, Gdaosk and Wrocław, and in four Ukrainian cities: Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and Lvov.
