Chief Medical Officer
Job Description The Open Door Health Services Chief Medical Officer provides executive leadership and oversight to assure delivery of exception care consistent with the mission and vision of the Open Door Health Services by facilitating Medical Staff interactions within the Medical Staff, with Open Door Administration, staff, patients and the community.
Primary Responsibility Creating and implementing provider engagement and alignment strategies, including promotion of programs to sustain professional satisfaction.
General Duties and Responsibilities 1. Serve as an active member of the Leadership Team. 2. Champion delivery of quality care as a priority for the medical staff 3. Develop and coordinate systems/processes for controlling costs related to clinical resource utilization. 4. Recommend clinical pathways and participate in the designation of priority objectives for the clinic with reference to implementation of the clinical health care plan. 5. Manage the functions of the Health Center’s Medical Staff office, including aspects of provider appointment/reappointment, departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures, oversight of Medical Staff departmental and committee functions, oversight of all processes for dealing with disruptive and impaired providers, and the oversight of all credentialing matters for the Medical Staff. 6. Participate in all committees and activities appropriate for an active member of the Health Center’s Medical Staff. 7. Reviews patient medical records for accuracy and appropriateness of care in order to complete clinical performance evaluation using peer review system. 8. Ensure that Medical Staff clinical practices followed within the Health Center comply with all local, state, federal and other regulatory requirements as well as nationally recognized standards of care.
Qualifications 1. Ideally, has been a CMO (or equivalent) in an FQHC or regional health system. 2. Board certified physician with practice experience. 3. Licensed by Indiana Medical Board 4. Skill in excellent communication and relationship development with both internal and external constituents 5. Interpersonal talents to establish rapport with individuals of diverse backgrounds 6. Leadership of quality improvement initiatives. Open Door Health Services is located in Muncie, IN and offers primary care to adults and children, dental services as well as behavioral health services. WIC , Family Planning, laboratory services and health education encompasses our services. ODHS has six sites total and a mobile unit.
ODHS qualifies for the loan repayment program through the National Health Service Corp. Malpractice coverage is under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
