Business CONNECTIN2.COM SOCIAL NETWORKING WITH A PURPOSE!!

Written by Tammy KC Hegyes Edited by Terri Bassett

What makes www.ConnectIn2.com unique? We were asked this question frequently as the site was being envisioned and executed. The answer is contained within our guiding philosophy that social networking should have a purpose…a reason to be, aside from the notion that people need a website to post photos of children and pets.

ConnectIn2.com is a social network where one can interact with real people, those with big hearts and a thirst to improve the world. It is a meeting place for folks that believe they were destined to meet. It may lead to friendship, love, business, or just to provide a smile when times are tough.

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD ConnectIn2.com is conceived as a “neighborhood”…a friendly community where you will meet people on a shared journey to share wisdom, experiences and a desire to help humanity. It may take the form of encouraging words, a prayer, perhaps a donation to a worthy charity, a job offer, or just an exchange of thoughts and ideas. While ConnectIn2.com is not a religious site, many users will share posts about their spiritual beliefs. We encourage this, as we are all looking for answers to the larger questions in life. We can all learn from one another, to build bridges over cultural divides, economic circumstances, and faiths. We, as an organization, believe there is more that binds us than separates us. If you agree, join us!!

There are a number of unique attributes to ConnectIn2.com, among them being the ability to maintain a list of contact details of the people with whom you have connected. Also, our users are able to upload photos, résumés, and biographies in order to provide depth to their personal profiles. ConnectIn2.com can also be used to source jobs, post jobs, and exchange business opportunities with like-minded people…all for free!! We also offer private chat rooms that are “password protected” for designated group meetings. Further, there are no artificial limits on how many connections you may have and no advertisements http://www.rockthizmag2.com/ Page 5

Fashion/Modeling LEAH WILLIAMS, RUBY MAE JEWELRY OWNER AND DESIGNER RUBY MAE Written by Leah Williams Edited by Terri Bassett

JEWELRY Rock Thiz Magazine recently caught up with Ruby Mae Jewelry owner and designer, Leah Williams, for a one-on-one conversation about her unusual jewelry line based on buttons and trinkets.

RTM: Leah, tell us where the name Ruby Mae comes from. LEAH: Ruby Snedigar was my maternal grandmother and Mae is from my mom, Patty Mae Jacobson. They were two Montana women who loved to sew and would be tickled pink I‟m playing with buttons.

RTM: What is your personal story in a nutshell? LEAH: I‟m an Arizona girl married to my high school sweetheart. We have three teenage sons, and I‟ve set up my work studio at home. It‟s the best of both worlds.

RTM: You were recently featured in a Go Daddy television commercial that aired just prior to the INDY 500 telecast. How did that come about? LEAH: Go Daddy selected me and four other small business owners for a series of print and video advertisements. We are all very satisfied customers with excellent websites. The small business ad campaign has just begun, and we haven‟t seen the finished products yet. Go Daddy has been exceptional to work with, and I‟m hoping for big things with the upcoming Go Daddy exposure.

RTM: How would you describe your style of jewelry? LEAH: I‟d say my pieces are eclectic with a bend towards sentimental. My bracelets typically have fifteen to twenty-five moving pieces on them, and no two bracelets are alike. I broken jewelry,

singlet earrings, beads, buckles, buttons, broaches, lingerie hardware, and purse zippers. I love old keys and coins, and now, I‟m starting to offer custom charms. My bracelets and necklaces each have a hand-stamped Ruby Mae charm dangling near the end. It‟s definitely for the woman who likes something unusual.

RTM: How long have you designed jewelry, and when did you start your button jewelry line? LEAH: I‟ve made jewelry for about twenty years, and the Ruby Mae line started in the spring of 2011.

RTM: You‟re pieces are very unique, and often times, I don‟t realize I‟m looking at buttons or links from a belt. What made you get into this style of jewelry? LEAH: Well, I found vintage buttons in a bowl at a resale store in Phoenix, and I took them home and made my first bracelet. It seemed very interesting to me. Metal buttons are noisy, and I liked that. Surprisingly, the buttons had the word “Caesar” on them, and that was the name of the cocker spaniel dog we had just adopted. I thought that was cool. I then started making more jewelry from buttons that I salvaged from old clothing and thrift stores or that clients provided me from their own tin of buttons. It‟s important to note that I mainly use buttons that have a hook/shank on the backside.

RTM: I notice you put all types of objects on your pieces, where do you find them? LEAH: You‟d be surprised at all of the places I find items. People sell me their vintage buttons, and those old cookie tins filled with treasures are the best. Our grandparent‟s generation didn‟t throw anything away, and they saved even little things like lingerie hardware and belt buckles. I wish my generation would save buttons and trinkets like the old-timers did. They were the original recyclers.

Page 14 http://www.rockthizmag2.com/

Fashion/Modeling

RTM: Did you know two years ago that buttons would be popular? LEAH: I had no idea buttons would be popular, but I knew I had a strong reaction to holding and touching them. I‟ve since learned there is a National Button Society, the NBS, and it holds a massive convention annually. Arizona hosts a button convention in Phoenix every February. When I walked into the state convention room for the first time, I was blown away. I saw about fifty thousand buttons displayed on nine by fifteen inch white boards lined up like record albums. There were at least twenty vendors and probably about two hundred and fifty categories of button types. The most expensive one I found was over three thousand dollars and was an eighteenth century hand-painted on ivory button that is absolutely gorgeous. Buttons tell a story, and by putting them as a centerpiece on my bracelets, I‟m honored to showcase something that was once forgotten.

RTM: I noticed your pieces all have different names. Why do you do that? LEAH: My one of a kind bracelets and necklaces are given a name picked by the woman who buys it. If it‟s a gift, they name it after whom they are giving it to. My clients get a kick out of seeing their item named on my website gallery. Sometimes they name it after their grandpa or someone who was special to them. Everyone has a story, and my website gallery lets me tell a bit of their story. At an event I was selling at, I overheard a pre-teen beaming to her friends she had something named after her on a website. That feels good.

RMT: Do you have favorite buttons? LEAH: Personally, I love the Lucite buttons from the nineteen thirties and forties, and I also love the bling rhinestone buttons. They add such sparkle to my pieces.

RMT: What do clients say when you hand them back their custom bracelet using buttons and trinkets they gave you?

Page 16 http://www.rockthizmag2.com/

Fashion/Modeling

RTM: How can someone order a custom bracelet from you? LEAH: It‟s very simple to order a custom bracelet from me. All they have to do is preorder it through my website shop under “Bracelets,” and then they bag up their buttons and such, and then they put it in the mail to me. We‟ll chat through email on chain color choice and preferences. If they don‟t have buttons, I can make them something custom with the supplies I already have.

RTM: It‟s been a delight getting to know more about you Leah, and from Rock Thiz Magazine, we wish you continued success. LEAH: Thank you so much. It‟s been a complete honor to be welcomed into your Rock and Roll family. Take care.

LEAH: It‟s not uncommon for clients to cry or get choked-up when they see their custom piece with items that were once forgotten in a button jar or jewelry box. It‟s a proud moment for me to see their reactions.

RTM: Do you only make custom pieces, and how do clients reach you? LEAH: I sell premade items as well as custom pieces. Premade items are on my website shop at www.rubymaejewelry.com, or they can find me by my page Ruby Mae Jewelry. My email is [email protected].

Sports MMA FIGHTER CASSIE CRISANO Written by Tammy KC. Hegyes Edited by Terri Bassett

Yes, you read it correctly. Small-town girl gone fighter!

Here is a woman you honestly do not want to mess with in a dark alley! Cassie Crisano is a professional mixed martial arts fighter on the rise, who is quickly making a name for herself in the sport of MMA.

Cassie was born in Middletown, New York, where her life in sports began. Wrestling soon became a big part of her life. Cassie possessed raw talent as a wrestler and was a fierce contender. She quickly moved up in the ranks as a competitor.

In 2002, Cassie found her life changing in a way that she never expected! She was involved in a bad automobile accident that almost took her life. The accident could have ultimately ended her career as an athlete, but Cassie is a fighter and wasn‟t about to give up on her dreams. In November of 2009, she made her comeback. It was a long, hard road getting back to the mat, but through sheer determination, Cassie achieved what many believed was impossible.

Cassie currently fights out of Glen Burnie, MD under Noel Smith. Smith is the head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) instructor at Glen Burnie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

We recently had the opportunity to connect with Cassie and find out a little bit about her career as a fighter. We would like to thank Cassie for taking the time to speak with Rock Thiz Magazine.

Rock Thiz Magazine: Cassie, now you‟re 32-years-old and making a great start as an MMA fighter. Can you tell us a little bit about why you became a fighter? Cassie Crisano: When I was a little girl, I always had the passion and desire to compete. I was very competitive in every aspect of my life, until I was involved in a really serious car accident. Due to the accident, I lost the ability to walk for several years. I was actually told that I would never walk again, but in my mind, that wasn‟t even an option. I was determined to prove them wrong. If I didn‟t, my athletic dreams and life goals would be shattered. Words could not even describe the FEAR that I felt. The fear of unfulfilled dreams began to sink in deeper and deeper. I didn‟t want to be 60-years-old thinking about what could have been. Growing up, almost every kid http://www.rockthizmag2.com/ Page 23

Sports dreams of becoming a professional athlete someday, and the majority fall short of that goal. I was not going to be a statistic. I pushed myself every day as hard as I could. Against all odds, I was determined not only to walk, but to run. I see this (my career as an MMA fighter) not only as a second chance to live my dreams, but as an opportunity to inspire every person that hears my story…to show them what they can accomplish with a “never give up” attitude. Even with the odds stacked against you, with persistence and determination, you can achieve whatever it is you set out to accomplish. My story is a testament to that.

RTM: How long did you train before jumping in the cage for your first fight? CC: I trained for about 12 months before my first official fight. I had a lot of reservations leading up to it. Training and actually stepping into the cage to fight in front of thousands of people are two completely different things. I also wasn‟t in the best shape at that particular time, so I experienced a lot of emotions leading up to the moment that I actually stepped into the cage to face my opponent. You know, typical emotions that you go through when you are about to put it all on the line, like – What am I doing here? – Am I really ready for this? – Is this really what I want to do? And the big question – What if I lose? LOL.

I went into my first fight with mixed emotions. Questions of doubt flooded my brain literally up until the very minute I stepped into that cage, but the second that cage door closed behind me, that all changed. Everything seemed so clear standing in there. At that moment, I knew I had finally foundthe piece that was always missing. At that moment, I knew that competing in that cage was exactly where I was meant to be. I won the fight that night in the second round by submission. I was so happy. I loved every second in that cage. It was after that fight that I knew competing in MMA was what I wanted to do more than anything. No more doubts, just excitement!

RTM: Is there one fight that stands out among the rest in your career as of right now?

Page 24 http://www.rockthizmag2.com/

Sports

RTM: It‟s come to our attention that you have post- traumatic stress disorder. This being brought on by a work related incident where your squad mate was shot? How has MMA fighting helped you with this? CC: Doing mixed martial arts has helped me with my PTSD by being able to focus my built-up anxiety and stress and releasing it into something constructive. Training and fighting take a lot of concentration, and strong willpower making it easier to focus on what‟s in front of me and not what happened in my past.

RTM: Now your first professional fight in mixed martial arts was March 16, 2013, but you have been training and competing on an amateur level since 2009. Do you feel that you‟ve become a stronger fighter, and which fight, between the years, has been your most challenged? CC: Absolutely. I definitely feel that I have become a stronger fighter since my first fight in 2010. I‟ve had the opportunity to train with some amazing people over the last few years. The athletes and coaches that I work with constantly push me to new limits, and it has helped me strengthen every aspect of my fight game. As a fighter, you‟re always learning and evolving. To be successful in MMA, you have to be a well-rounded fighter.

After researching him for this article, and spending time pouring over his resume, I thought undoubtedly he would be at far more advanced an age. The multiple Emmys sitting behind him on a shelf only added to the contradiction that stood before me. Here stood a young, handsome and ever-so charming man. Shane is a captivating presence; from the moment I entered the room and he took my hand, he was mesmerizing. Shane and Tiffany sat together, across the table from me, neither one taking the “head” chair. This was like old friends gathering to gossip; no one claiming to be the most important in the room.

Everyone here was an equal, including me. I asked if I could take out my tape recorder, and Shane asked me to wait just a moment. He got up, walked across the room to the door, peeked out and asked someone to “bring it in”. Just then, August Walters, their executive assistant, came in with platters for lunch. I am not a foodie, but I must illustrate the heart and home that was shared with me. Most remarkable was that they had done their research on me as well. While they are not, they knew I was a strict vegetarian and wanted to please me. Thoughtful. What impressed me the most was that Shane didn‟t sit down when August came in with the trays. He helped with everything, as well as offered to make me a plate. This, my dear readers, is a true gentleman; a rarity anywhere these days. What an absolute pleasure to be in the company of people who are so giving of themselves and their time as well. After enjoying a scrumptious lunch, the interview began. I once again asked if I could set up my tape recorder. Tiffany seemed slightly uncomfortable, as she tends to shy away from interviews. She has stated she prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Shane gently says to her, “Don‟t worry, you‟ll be fine.” And so, we begin.

AM: So, Shane, you have quite the outstanding resume. What are the things that stand out as highlights to you?

SS: Obviously there is Gridiron Gang, not just because of the impact and the success of the film, but because of how long it took to get on the screen.

After the project years for anything, when it was all said and done, I was thrown back into the reality of what it takes to get things done in this industry. Three words I learned to take to heart: Patience, Passion and Commitment.

AM: Shane, you‟ve been personally nominated 4 times and won 2 Emmys, all before you were 18 years old. Did that make things easier for you?

SS: Made things very difficult. First I had to get over the fear that I possibly may have peaked before my 18th birthday. It took me a long time to realize, moving forward, that it was something to be proud of, but not constantly try to measure up to every time I did something. It probably wasn‟t until 10 years ago that I finally was able to accept the beauty of my past and move ahead confidently.

AM: Speaking of moving forward, you and Tiffany now run Visual Arts Entertainment. Care to tell me how this partnership came to be?

SS: For several years, I had been trying to find a like-minded partner, but what I really wanted was someone who was the polar opposite of me; someone who challenged every aspect of the business, from the creative side, to its growth and marketing. And then, I met Tiffany while I was

We stayed in touch and upon prepping to start my next project, she asked if I had any needs. I told her my desires and before the end of business, she had secured locations and some cast I needed.

TJ: You forget that we also went to High School together. Not that we knew each other back then, but it does add to our back-story. It seems over the years, there were many times we were at the same place at the same time, but just missed each other. We always say, we met when we were supposed to.

AM: You guys seem like close friends, so I‟m guessing there‟s more here than just a business partnership?

SS: Are you asking if, like Wiley Coyote and Sam the Sheepdog in the Roadrunner cartoons, do we punch out at the end of the day and go our separate ways? (laughs) No.

SS: We do work well together. There is no question there.

TJ: And we always have each other‟s backs, which makes us stronger when having to make some of the decisions we need to make.

SS: We are very protective of each other and our work. So often you see “partners” in this town who are always looking for the bigger, better deal instead of putting the work into making their own partnership successful. That‟s not us. We are committed.

We initially met Eric Zuley through Tony Lavorgna and Janie Boisclair of The Saint Tone Band. We were amazed at his easy-going manner and ability to relate to all people he met. He immediately puts his interview subjects at ease while interviewing them. Eric is concerned with all people, and the way he makes Hollywood stars accessible to all their fans, by asking them the questions we really want to know, is very refreshing. Eric's main focus is not fame, but to help others, and we love that about him. He tirelessly works for charities, such as STEP, and has what seems like endless energy and drive, all for the purpose of making a difference to positively impact the lives of others. MIKE: You can get hard copies at all our live shows, online at www.psychothermia.com (Where we‟re giving away a free download of the track “Anarchy”!), and also at www.amazon.com . MW: Which stunt legend did you work with for doing the real fire instead of fake fire? JON: Lane Leavitt and his crew. He‟s worked on tons of legendary movies like Fight Club, Matrix Reloaded, Mission Impossible 2, etc. MIKE: I‟d say it was a once in a lifetime experience, but I hope we get to do it again...bigger! Lane Leavitt, Jay Torrez, and the whole crew were totally professional and made it a great time, also learned a thing or two. Do you know the three ingredients of fire? CHENZO: I just want to give props to the two Russian guys, I don‟t remember their names [William Di Vital and Alan Diambekov], but they definitely made me feel a lot safer…and strangely made me crave some vodka.

MW: Is there any one Rock Metal legend you would like to open for? CHENZO: Rage! Rage or f*ck*n‟ Slipknot! JON: For me it would be Metallica…or Amadeus Mozart. JOHAN: I‟d want to open for Jimi Hendrix…in 1968! JON: I‟m not sure how well our music would have done back then. JOHAN: That‟s what I‟m saying. We could‟ve freaked people out together! MIKE: Growing up, I was all about Metallica, but opening for Iron Maiden would make my g*dd*mn day.

MW: Are there any tours planned or upcoming shows for the new future? MIKE: We‟re heading out on our “Fall to the Rising Sun” Southwest tour in March 2013! Rolling through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma…see you on the road! JOHAN: A lot of people ask why we tour in the Southwest so much, and the answer is simple…gas. It‟s hard for an Independent band to get out farther, so we tour where we can. CHENZO: Plus, they know how to party. JON: And there‟s lots of Walmarts to survive off of!

Rat Rod This truck is 100% hand built, body, frame, ALL!! I started with some 3/4 inch square tubing and some 1/2 inch round stock, started building a skeleton of what I wanted it to look like, and then started covering it with 18 GA sheet metal. I always liked the look of a model T so thats kinda what I based it off of. I then built a 2" x 4" rectangle tube frame for it, bought a Speedway Motors spring behind front end for it, put a camaro disk brake rearend in it, and a throttle body injected 350 chevy and 700r4 from a 91 chevy pickup in it. It‟s still injected and I used ALL the wiring, computer, fuel pump, and gauges from the truck! I also built the seats, steering column, exhaust, etc. Like I said, it‟s a true Woozmobile, LOL. I started on it October of 2010 and got it done July 2011. We took it down to Greaserama in Kansas City September 3 & 4 2011, and I drive it almost daily since I finished it. I LOVE THIS TRUCK!! All the work was 100% done by me and my wife. I hope you guys like it too. Thanks so much.
