TAYLOR I request that the following be funded: • to the aging and long-term services department TIJERAS SENIOR CTR CONSTRUCT eight hundred fifty thousand dollars ($850,000) to plan, design, construct, furnish and equip a senior center in Tijeras in Bernalillo county • to the cultural affairs department ALB NATL HISPANIC CULTURAL CTR DOMENICI ED BLDG one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to construct, equip and furnish the Pete V. Domenici education building at the national Hispanic cultural center in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county • to the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad commission CUMBRES & TOLTEC RR INFRA & WATER SUPPLIES seventy-two thousand five hundred dollars ($72,500) to plan, design and construct infrastructure improvements, including renovation of water sources, drainage systems, parking lots, outbuildings and dining halls, for the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad in Rio Arriba county CUMBRES & TOLTEC RR SHOP & ASH PIT IMPROVE ninety-two thousand five hundred dollars ($92,500) to purchase, install and improve locomotive shop doors, smokestack fans, track pans, ash pit and shop track pits for the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad in Rio Arriba county • to the department of eliminate the use of gaseous chlorine and sulfur dioxide for the Albuquerque-Bernalillo county water authority in Bernalillo county ALB-BERN CO WATER AUTH ODOR CONTROL fourteen million six hundred thousand dollars ($14,600,000) to plan, design and construct an odor control system for the primary clarifiers for settling tanks for the Albuquerque- Bernalillo county water authority in Bernalillo county EAST MOUNTAIN AREA WATER TANKS PURCHASE two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to purchase and install water storage tanks in the east mountain area of Bernalillo county ALB MESA DEL SOL REC CMPLX WATER/SEWER SYSTEM two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to plan, design and construct a water and sewer system for a recreation complex at Mesa del Sol in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county COORS BLVD SEWER INTERCEPTOR/FORTUNA-OLD COORS thirteen million dollars ($13,000,000) to plan, design and construct sewer infrastructure on Coors boulevard from Fortuna road to Old Coors drive in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county COORS BLVD SEWER INTERCEPTOR/YUCCA & CENTRAL fourteen million dollars ($14,000,000) to plan, design and construct improvements to the sewer interceptor on Coors boulevard between Yucca drive and Central avenue in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county TIJERAS WWATER SYSTEM CONSTRUCT five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to plan, design and construct a wastewater system in Tijeras in Bernalillo county BOSQUE FARMS ARSENIC TREATMENT five million five hundred thousand dollars ($5,500,000) to plan, design and construct an arsenic treatment facility for the water system in Bosque Farms in Valencia county BOSQUE FARMS WATER STORAGE TANK IMPROVE one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to plan, design and construct improvements to the water storage tank in Bosque ($25,000) to plan, design and construct improvements to Glory court in the south valley area of Bernalillo county GLORY RD IMPROVE one hundred ten thousand three hundred dollars ($110,300) to plan, design and construct improvements to Glory road from the Bernalillo county public works department maintenance point to south county road 14 in Bernalillo county I-25 THIRD LANE-GIBSON TO RIO BRAVO twenty-five million dollars ($25,000,000) to plan, design and construct a third lane on interstate 25 from Gibson boulevard to Rio Bravo boulevard in Bernalillo county LARK RD IMPROVE one hundred nineteen thousand dollars ($119,000) to plan, design and construct improvements to Lark road from Cardinal drive to Mockingbird drive in Bernalillo county MEADOW RD IMPROVE forty-seven thousand dollars ($47,000) to plan, design and construct improvements on Meadow road from the beginning of the road to Tapia road, including paving, in Bernalillo county MOCKINGBIRD HILL RD IMPROVE one hundred Barelas area of Albuquerque in Bernalillo county ALB BALLOON FIESTA PARK LIGHTING INSTALL twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to plan, design, construct, purchase and install lighting along the parkway from the interstate 25 frontage road to the entrance of the Balloon Fiesta park in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county ALB EL PORVENIR DRAINAGE one million two hundred fifty thousand dollars BACKGROUND Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency staff are proposing a major expansion of the Old Albuquerque High Metropolitan Redevelopment Area to include the commercial corridor along Central and Martin Luther King Jr between Broadway and I-25 and the east side of Broadway from Lomas to Coal Ave. The new area will be renamed the East Downtown/Huning Highlands/South Martineztown/Metropolitan Redevelopment Area. Please find the attached Redevelopment Area Designation Report. FINDINGS 1. Throughout the proposed area there are a number of aging and deteriorating buildings and structures that are in need of repair, rehabilitation and in some instances removal. 2. A significant number of commercial or mercantile businesses have closed. 3. Throughout the proposed area there exists a deterioration of site improvements. 4. There exists low levels of commercial or industrial activity or redevelopment. 5.
