● Live feed API ○ Review the Closure Incident and Feed Specification (CIFS) doc which outlines feed format. JSON or XML preferred. ● Road Closure Tool ○ Accessible through our web-based map editing platform, the Waze Map Editor (WME). Use the Road Closure Tool to add closures directly to the Waze map. ○ Be sure to log-in to the WME with your institutional username so that the closures you add are attributed to your organization. ● Emails to [email protected] ○ Please provide at least 48 hours advanced notice when sending emails. Emails must contain the following fields: ■ Name of event along with city and country where event is happening ■ Street names ■ Direction of closures (one way/both directions) ■ Start and end time of closures (in local time zone) ■ Cross streets at beginning and end of closures 04 / SHARE WAZE DATA 36 – WAZE Give Waze Data: Incidents

● Major Traffic Events, or MTEs are large-scale events that have associated road closures (eg. marathon race, bridge closure etc). ● MTEs are eligible to get additional attention, including: ○ A message to users (through push notification/inbox message) ○ A listing on our events website, and/or ○ Social media coverage ● Options to submit an MTE, include: ○ Email [email protected] ○ Complete the Major Traffic Event Form ○ If a road closure is part of a larger event, it can now be added to the WME through the Events tool in the WME ● Please provide at least 48 hours advanced notice (2 weeks for a custom push notification). 04 / SHARE WAZE DATA 39 – WAZE Get Waze Data
Waze API Traffic View Tool Email Alerts 04 / SHARE WAZE DATA 40 – WAZE Get Waze Data: Waze API
● The Waze data feed contains filtered data for your territory, including: ○ Traffic incidents ■ jams, accidents, hazards, construction, potholes, roadkill, stopped vehicles, objects on road, missing signs -- reported by our community of mobile users ○ System-generated traffic jams ■ location and speed data associated with slow downs below average speed for a particular segment for the time of day/day of week -- identified by analyzing anonymized user GPS signals ● The API is available through a localized JSON or XML feed that is updated in real time. ● To request the Waze feed: ○ Update the polygon in the Basic Information tab of the Portal. ○ Get Waze Data > Add data set > Waze JSON/XML feed ● Review the Waze Feed Technical Specifications doc. ○ Each alert receives a Reliability and Confidence Score. ● Note: Waze does not share user speed data with Partners. 04 / SHARE WAZE DATA 41 – WAZE Get Waze Data: Traffic View Tool
● The Traffic View Tool (TVT) contains real-time Waze ETAs from pre-selected origins to destinations: ○ Waze-o-Meter: quick visual snapshot of traffic in your area. ○ Unusual traffic feed: automatically alerts to places where drive times are much longer than expected and provides a link to the best alternate route, when available. ○ Route watchlist feed: list of the routes you report on most often. ○ Traffic View Live Map: auto set to your area; zoom-in to see details and click on any icon to see user-submitted information about that notification. ● To request the Traffic View Tool ○ Get Waze Data > Select dataset > Traffic view tool ○ Once the TVT is marked live, add your routes 04 / SHARE WAZE DATA 42 – WAZE Get Waze Data: Email Alerts
● Waze will send alerts of important traffic events in your area straight to your inbox, including: ○ Cause of unusual traffic. ■ Unusual traffic emails resemble our localized twitter feeds. ○ Insights and comments based on real-time user road reports. ○ Trends, to anticipate if the traffic expected to get better or worse. ○ Optimal alternate route to bypass the traffic. 05 / RESOURCES 43 – WAZE Resources
