Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Guidelines and Application UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES: 1. Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following colleges: Mott Community College, Kettering University, Baker College of Flint, Davenport University or the University of Michigan—Flint. 2. Preference will be given to first generation college students from Genesee County who have demonstrated the characteristics and ideals of Dr. King. 3. First time applicants must have 40 hours total of documented community service. 4. Applicant must demonstrate continuing academic achievement by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater. 5. Applicant must have a demonstrated commitment to humanitarian ideals, leadership and community social justice work. 6. Applicant must have at least one extracurricular activity--- activity could come from high school, church, synagogue, or community. Must have verification/reference letter from the department head of one of the above-mentioned entities. 7. Scholarship is renewable annually through the application process. 8. The annual award is based on earnings from the Endowment and must be used solely for tuition, fees, books and/or required supplies. Award will be applied directly to the student's tuition account.
