Sutton Link, Sutton Local Committee Daniel Doris - Major Scheme Programme Manager 6th September 2018 Background ● The Tram extension has been part of strategic planning policy for over 20 years. It is part of a shared aspiration to address the public transport deficit in South London, and support high quality sub-regional economic growth. ● Since 2013, Sutton and Merton have been working in collaboration with TfL, to undertake the necessary feasibility work to deliver the extension. ● A public consultation carried out by Sutton and Merton, supported by TfL, in 2014 received over 10,000 responses with 84% of people supporting the extension. In addition the scheme features in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and Sutton’s Local Plan. ● TfL has publically committed £70m funding (from the Growth Fund). Furthermore, TfL have committed to undertaking the necessary feasibility works required to deliver a Transport & Works Act Order (TWAO) which is necessary to gain consent to deliver the scheme. The Benefits ● Extending the Tram network to Sutton would have a range of benefits for residents and businesses across south London addressing the lack of public transport investment in this part of outer London. ● The on road alignment (from Morden Road to Sutton Station, via St Helier Hospital) could improve access to Transport to 59,000* people in some of Sutton and Merton’s most deprived wards. ● It could facilitate the connections between key interchanges, such as Sutton station, Morden underground (Northern Line) and Wimbledon (National Rail Services and the District Line), improving connectivity for residents in both boroughs across south London and to central London. -

campaigning by the Railway Development Society Limited Development of Train Services for Chiltern Routes Response from Railfuture 1. Introduction Railfuture is pleased to respond to the London TravelWatch document regarding the Development of Train Services for Chiltern Routes. Our comments will be brief and to the point. Railfuture is the campaigning name of the Railway Development Society Limited, a (not for profit) Limited Company organised in England as twelve regional branches plus two national branches in Scotland and Wales. This coordinated response has been compiled by Railfuture London & South East, and has been agreed with Railfuture Thames Valley for those sections of line in their area (Amersham to Aylesbury and West Ruislip to Bicester North). 2. General Comments Railfuture welcomes the initiative from LTW to suggest ways of raising standards of service on Chiltern Railways services in London and South East. We note the work that has gone into gathering the detail on network capacity and existing services. Chiltern is unique for a number of reasons: its close working relationship and shared infrastructure with London Underground (LU) on the Aylesbury Line; the close proximity of other LU and London Bus services to many Chiltern ‘metro’ stations on the High Wycombe line; the close mix of short and medium distance commuter traffic and the poor interchange facilities at Marylebone. It is equally unique for the impressive increase in patronage generated by reliable modern rolling stock and infrastructure; the benefits of a long-term franchise agreement and an imaginative customer oriented professional management team. It is also inhibited by many of the factors that make it unique! These range from the poor interchange facilities at Marylebone, to a lack of infrastructure between Wembley and West Ruislip. -

Saturday Walkers Club www.walkingclub.org.uk Kings Cross to Liverpool Street via 13 stations walk All London’s railway terminals, the three royal parks, the River Thames and the City Length 21.3km (13.3 miles) for the whole walk, but it is easily split into smaller sections: see Walk Options below Toughness 1 out of 10 - entirely flat, but entirely on hard surfaces: definitely a walk to wear cushioned trainers and not boots. Features This walk links (and in many cases passes through) all thirteen London railway terminals, and tells you something of their history along the way. But its attractions are not just limited to railway architecture. It also passes through the three main Central London parks - Regent’s Park, Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens and St James's Parks - and along the Thames into and through the City of London*. It takes in a surprising number of famous sights and a number of characteristic residential and business areas: in fact, if you are first time visitor to London, it is as good an introduction as any to what the city has to offer. Despite being a city centre walk, it spends very little of its time on busy roads, and has many idyllic spots in which to sit or take refreshment. In the summer months you can even have an open air swim midway through the walk in Hyde Park's Serpentine Lido. (* The oldest part of London, now the financial district. Whenever the City, with a capital letter, is used in this document, it has this meaning.) Chapter 24 Route window W3 Old Oak Common Depot Transport for London OLD OAK COMMON DEPOT The permanent works 24 Route window W3 24.7 The permanent works will consist of 14 new Crossrail stabling sidings within the site of Old Oak Old Oak Common depot Common depot. A further siding incorporating a train washing facility will also be provided. The sidings will be overhead electrified and located between the existing English Welsh & Scottish and First Great Western depots on a section of land known as the Coronation Sidings. This will require some remodelling of existing trackwork to accommodate the needs of other existing users within the depot.
