Type of No. of Date Recruitment Initiative Brief Description Of Activity Stations Participant Title (Menu Selection) Participants 14 5/4/2017 Participation in events On May 4th, 2017, Chief Meteorologist 1 Chief Meteorologist or programs sponsored Nick Grunseth traveled to Menomonie by educational Middle school to talk to four groups of institutions 8th grade students about communications and related fields. The students attending Nick's sessions were not necessarily interested in communications; rather, it was an opportunity for them to explore.

Nick talked about why communication and accuracy are important. He explained how oral stories turned to written, especially through newspapers, then came radio, then TV, then digital/web media. Nick talked about his role as meteorologist, and shared some of the classes he took in high school to put him on his career path. He also explained that participating in forensics made him a better speaker in front of other people.

Nick also touched on the vast careers in communications, in particular, television broadcasting. He talked about journalism and reporting, the need for graphic artists and production experts, the role of engineers, and the importance of sales executives. He said many classes that the students take in high school and college will be related to communications in one way or another.
