RCH is a 478-bed level 1 trauma center, comprehensive thrombectomy-capable stroke center, and STEMI receiving center located in the heart of downtown Riverside, 50 miles east of Los Angeles and 50 miles north of Laguna Beach. We care for 120,000 patients a year through our expansive ED. The UCR School of Medicine represents the newest expansion of the University of California system, joining a prestigious group of medical educators in our state. As the affiliated emergency medicine residency program for UCR, we look forward to a long tradition of excellence in patient care and medical education. Emergency Medicine residents will train directly with clinical professors and instructors from UCR and will mentor UCR medical students. The advanced simulation center at the UCR campus, located just 2 miles away, provides outstanding training in both cognitive and procedural skills. Our unique program combines high-level state-of-the-art care with the real-world practice of a highly efficient community hospital. Residents from our program are among the best in the nation, having learned the newest inpatient care coupled with the ability to handle the realities of high volume emergency departments. Graduates complete the program with enormous procedural confidence given the patient volume and acuity. Our residents are superbly positioned to enter the workforce and make an important impact on emergency care.
