Eingebettet in eine wunderschöne Parkanlage nächst dem Rhein und inmitten zweier Bergmassive findet hier jeder Golfer eine Herausforderung der besonderen Art. Der Championship Course ist seit 2007 Mitglied der Qualitäts- und Wertegemeinschaft der «Leading Golf Courses» und seit 2018 Jahr zusätzlich von «World of Leading Golf». Diese Mitgliedschaften bestätigen Golfkultur und Philosophie des Hauses, die am Streben nach Perfektion ausgerichtet sind. Als einzige Golfanlage der Schweiz wurde sie zudem durch den Bundesverband der Golfanlagen mit dem Prädikat 5* Superior ausgezeichnet und zählt zu den Topplätzen der Schweiz. Der hohe Pflegestandard und die Schönheit des Platzes bringen, mit den zum Teil schmalen und beidseitig von Wald begrenzten Fairways, so manches Golferass zum Schwärmen. Am 29. April 2017 hat der Golf Club Bad Ragaz nach nur 222 Tagen Bauzeit sein neues Zuhause beziehen können. Der moderne, einstöckige Bau beheimatet neben dem Golf Shop unter anderem das neu unter dem Namen «gladys» auftretende Golf Restaurant, welches von «GaultMillau» aktuell mit 13 Punkten ausgezeichnet ist. Neu- bzw. umgebaut worden ist im Winter 2016/17 nicht nur das Clubhaus, sondern auch auf dem Platz. Die Spielbahnen 10 und 11 wurden einem Facelifting unterzogen. Ein kleiner Bach quert Fairway 10 und mündet in einen See, der Green 11 umschliesst. Dieses Redesign ist nicht nur optisch ein grosser Gewinn, mit den neuen Wasserhindernissen steigt auch der sportliche Schwierigkeitsgrad des Parcours. Zudem wurde die Pitch- und Putt-Area deutlich vergrössert; die Kurzspiel-Anlage umfasst neu 2000 Quadratmeter verteilt auf zwei Übungsgrüns. Im Winter 2017/18 wurden zudem die Greenbunker an zwölf Bahnen mit der neuartigen Capillary-Concrete-Methode grunderneuert, im Winter 2018/19 dann die Greenbunker auf den back-nine. Zudem wurden die Bunker an den Grüns 14, 15 und 17 mit der Dura-Bunker-Methode zu Pott-Bunkern im schottischen Stil umgebaut. Platzrekord: 61 Schläge Juan Quiros (Spanien; 2006 / 2. Runde Seniors Open): erreicht wurde das Ergebnis von neun unter Par durch 10 Birdies, 7 Pars und 1 Bogey. Carl Mason (England) stellte diesen Platzrekord in der 2. Runde des Seniors Open 2008 ein – sieben Birdies und ein Eagle (auf Bahn 16) führten zur 61. Angel Fernandez (Chile) stellte den Platzrekord mit 61 Schlägen in der 1. Runde des Seniors Open 2011 - mit 9 Birdies und 9 Pars - ebenfalls ein. André Bossert (Schweiz) stellte den Platzrekord mit 61 Schlägen in der 3. Runde des Swiss Seniors Open 2015 ebenfalls ein. The 51-year-old Englishman will be joined by three other Ryder Cup blasts from the past – Mark James, Ronan Rafferty and Barry Lane – at the European Senior Tour event at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club from March 16-18. “I am greatly looking forward to starting my defence of the John Jacobs Trophy [order of merit title] in Sharjah in March,” said Broadhurst who won his first senior major at Carnoustie in July by two shots from American Scott McCarron before going on to capture the US Champion Tour’s Pure Insurance Championship in September. “I have always enjoyed playing in the United Arab Emirates, and it’s great that the Senior Tour golfers now have a chance to return to a country where a number of us will have very fond memories.” Broadhurst, who finished second at the Wales Senior Open, WINSTONgolf Senior Open and the season-ending MCB Tour Championship and had two other two 10s, easily captured the the 2016 order of merit title with €399, 285 from nine events. Swede Magnus P Atlevi, tied third with Miguel Angel Jimenez at Carnoustie, was second with €211,557 to tie up rookie of the year honours.
