Super Nova - AGAIN! PG Donte DiVincenzo Helps Villanova Crush Michigan In NCAA Title Game Author : Brian Snow (SAN ANTONIO) Talk about a great year for the city of Philadelphia. First the Eagles take down the evil empire known as the New England Patriots to win their first Super Bowl, and now the Villanova Wildcats claim the 2018 NCAA Men's National Championship. However tonight's National Championship can be summed up in one hashtag - #DontesInferno. Riding 31 points from super sophomore Donte DiVincenzo, the Wildcats easily dispatched the Michigan Wolverines 79-62 to win their second title in three years. Villanova finishes their season with a record of 35-4 while Michigan finishes their season 33-7. The Wolverines intended to slow the game down and were successful to the tune of a 21-14 lead. Then DiVincenzo took control. He made his first two shots including a three-point goal with 6:07 left in the first half to give them their first lead at 23-21. He extended the Wildcats to a four-point lead at 28-24 with another three-point goal and kept it at four with a driving layup. 1 / 2 He then took a slick pass from Jalen Brunson and crammed home a two-handed dunk to keep the 'Cats in the lead. Then Brunson buried a long three-point shot to extend the lead to 37-28 at the half. And to think, the 'Cats were just getting started. It was more of the same in the second half for DiVincenzo and the Cats and he got some help from Brunson, Omari Spellman, Mikal Bridges, and all his compadres as the lead began to stretch. Michigan did not have an answer for Villanova's savage defense. And they certainly could not solve the tournament's Most Outstanding Player in DiVincenzo. His #Inferno, brought a title to the 'Cats as they once again are the "Super 'Nova" 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).
