Northern end wonderfully remote. PEAK DISTRICT Kinder Scout 636m SK085875 Scene of the famous Mass Trespass; in winter a bleak, white wildland. NORTH YORK MOORS Roseberry Topping 320m NZ579125 Tooth of a hill rising above North Yorkshire; grandest thing for miles. DARTMOOR Yes Tor 619m SX582900 Impressively high Dartmoor summit; nearby High Willhays the true top. WALES NORTH WALES Snowdon 1085m SH610544 Stupendous; extreme and worthy despite compromised its summit. Carnedd Llewelyn 1064m SH683644 Bulky and knurled, a fitting contrast to Snowdon. Near-polar in winter. Carnedd Dafydd 1044m SH663630 Round and comely from the south; a massive cliff to the north. Glyder Fach 994m SH656582 Lesser in height but grander in stature than Fawr. Bristly Ridge a hoot. Pen yr Ole Wen NEW 2020 978m SH655619 The impressive western-front of the Carneddau, with an exciting east ridge. Yr Eifl NEW 2020 564m SH365447 Walk from sea to rocky summit for ‘wow’ views of the entire Llyn Peninsula. CENTRAL WALES Pumlumon 752m SN789869 Rugged, multi-topped and (currently) unspoiled mid-Wales oddball. SOUTH WALES Pen y Fan 886m SO011215 Ever popular; a majestic, uniquely sculpted southern giant. Fan Brycheiniog 802m SN825218 The Black Mountain.
