300 Hour Advanced Program January 10, 2019 - October 30, 2020

Course Overview

This 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training program is an advanced program designed for individuals who have already completed a 200 hour program OR who already have extensive experience practicing and/or teaching yoga. Along with studying the deeper aspects of Yoga (योग), this program will also explore foundations within Āyurveda (आयुवेद); teaching you to integrate subtle energetic anatomy into your yoga practice and teaching style.

Experience the transformational power of Yoga and Āyurveda. Expect to grow professionally as you enhance your skills as a Yoga teacher and personally as you advance in your own practice and lifestyle routines. Together we will create a community dedicated to supporting each other as we undergo a deeply rich exploration of the practice and philosophy of Yoga.

Emphasis will be placed on: • Yoga Philosophy • Foundations of Āyurveda • Yoga for Special Populations • The Language of Yoga; Sanskrit • Advanced Physical & Energetic Anatomy • Advanced Principles of Alignment • Artful Sequencing and Creative Expression • Teaching Yoga to Every Body • Intentional Living • Yoga as a Transformational Practice • Becoming a Transformational Teacher • Nature Based Yoga • Yoga Texts: (Vedas, Upaniṣads, Bhagavad-Gītā, Yoga Sūtras & Haṭhayoga Pradīpikā,)

This 300 hour yoga teacher training is credentialed through the Yoga Alliance and recognized as a 300 hour training designed to build upon and deepen the trainee’s understanding of the fundamental concepts of teaching yoga that are generally taught at the 200-hour level. It prepares its trainees to teach principles and techniques of yoga that are more advanced, more detailed, and/or more subtle, and the training enables them to teach with greater skill than could reasonably be expected of a RYT 200. The 300 hour teacher training will provide the student with skills in teaching that address the specific needs of individuals and special populations, to the degree possible in a mixed group setting. Students who successfully graduate from this program and are in compliance of YA requirements, including teaching 100 hours of yoga after registration as a RYT 200, will be eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as a 500 RYT.

Amanda Montavon

Amanda is currently working as a professional outdoor adventure based educator and Yoga instructor. She has over 18 years of experience coaching and teaching people of all ages, fitness levels and walks of life. At the age of 17 she started working in the fitness industry as a swim coach and group fitness instructor. By the time she was 20 she became an ACE certified personal trainer and certified instructor through FiTour. At first, she was purely interested in the physical benefits of Yoga. However, upon experiencing the subtler benefits of her practice she became intrigued by Yoga philosophy, energetic anatomy, and concepts of holism. Since then she’s completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in Multi-Style Yoga, a 500 hour YTT in Traditional Tantra Yoga at the Shri Kali Ashram in Goa India, and several continuing education workshops.

Growing up surfing and hiking in Northern California, she moved to Alaska to study the therapeutic benefits of outdoor recreation. She received a B.A. in Outdoor Studies from Alaska Pacific University, and upon graduating she worked in mental health as a wilderness guide/behavioral health technician and activity therapist. Her continued pursuit of Yoga eventually led her to the study of Āyurveda, and she 4 completed the training required to meet the standards of the National Āyurveda Medical Association for Āyurveda Practitioners.

In 2013, she taught her first 200 hour YTT program as a capstone project for her Masters of Arts. Her thesis was on developing holistic teaching methods; holistically supporting others along their own unique path of personal growth. Since then she has continued to offer 200 & 300 hour trainings in Alaska and has taught 1300 hours (and counting) of YTTs accredited by the Yoga Alliance.

Along with teaching Yoga, she works full time as the Director of Programs for Onward and Upward a non-profit School for Adventure Based Learning and Self Discovery based in Palmer, Alaska. The study and more importantly the practice of Yoga and Āyurveda continues to be an integral part of her life and personal development.

Lidija Poljacek-Umphenour

What is a lawyer supposed to do when she moves to a new country with a different legal system? Become a yoga teacher of course.

Lidija came to yoga when she was looking for a dance studio in Anchorage. At first it was the āsana (postures) that drew her in. Then came the realization that yoga is so much more. However, what really got her hooked is when she saw how yoga can change lives of people who are dealing with different challenges and difficulties. Her interest was in yoga with therapy modules and her quest brought her to San Diego where she studied at YogaWell Institute for Progressive Therapies. Her international travels as a journalist awarded her opportunities to teach classes and workshops not only in Anchorage but throughout the U.S., Slovenia, Germany, Poland and Croatia.

She loves to teach all "yoga." Therapeutic, Yoga for Warriors, Strong Haṭha, Vinyāsa, Gentle, Restorative, Meditation, etc. She says that yoga has something for everyone. Yoga, to her, is a never ending source and resource for a life well lived.

Lidija has been a lead teacher for a 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training and has been teaching modules for 500 hr Trainings. She is a YACEP, 200 and 500 E-RYT and along the way she acquired certificates in Prenatal and AIReal Yoga, and has had special training in Yoga for Anxiety, Gentle Yoga, , Yoga for Fibromyalgia, Yoga for Stress and PTSD, Yoga for Cancer Patients and Cancer Survivors, as well as, in all things, Laughter Yoga.

She thinks you are never too old or too young to do yoga and volunteers as a Kids Yoga Teacher. Some day she hopes to teach yoga to astronauts heading to Mars. Because.... Yoga in space of course.

Cassandra Lidin

Cassandra Lidin is originally from the Baltimore-D.C. area, where she initially studied yoga under Shariff Roberts and Moses Brown. Her first yoga practices included Ashtanga, Anusara, Sivananda, and .

She holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she was fascinated 5 by the anatomical form and range of movement, and primarily focused on the creation of figurative works in paint, clay, and drawing.

With this deep interest in human expression, she wanted to continue to focus her studies in the art of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine and its effects on the psyche and health of the body. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in 5 Element Acupuncture from Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly TAI Sophia) in 2004, and is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Alaska. Her five year training included daily Qi Gong or Tai Qi practice to build discipline and inner listening, as well as to promote healthy Qi flow.

In 2006, she decided to relocate to beautiful Alaska. She maintained a small but full practice until opening Spirit Path Yoga and Wellness in 2011; a center to combine movement therapy and treatments, as well as providing educational opportunities for the community and continuing education for health care providers. Spirit Path houses a multitude of services including Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Ayurveda, Counseling, and Chiropractic care.

Cassandra received her Yoga Teaching Certification from Anchorage Yoga. She earned her Āyurvedic Practitioner certification through Kanyakumari and Spirit Path Āyurveda Education as a NAMA recognized provider, and has continued her studies in Ayurveda, including a Marma Therapy certification with Mark Halpern. She has received an advanced two plus year training in Kampo, Japanese herbal formula applications, under the esteemed Nigel Dawes. She has taken multiple courses in Japanese manual therapies and specialty Acupuncture approaches.

In her practice, she incorporates Acupuncture, herbs, diet therapy, lifestyle counseling, manual therapies, subtle energy healing, therapeutic yoga and movement therapy, and works with all ages from infant care to the elderly. She serves as Secretary for Acupuncture for Alaska, our state association.

Her passion lies in enjoying the arts, but spends much of her own creative time gardening, tending her hobby farm, raising her two sons, cooking, and dedicating her weekdays to patients and staff. Her self- care consists of lifting weights, a home yoga practice, reading, and meditation. She also assists with Spirit Path’s sister company, OT for Spirited Kids and Adults, with special needs kids camps on weekends monthly.
