A truly remarkable classic 1957 Chevrolet Corvette "Fuelie". This spectacular iconic late 50s automotive masterpiece has been treated to a complete frame-off nut and bolt restoration. The factory correct Black Tuxedo with Silver Cove body with factory correct Red interior is simply breathtaking. Also with matching hardt-top included. This amazing example of the most desired of the classic Corvettes has the top of the line 283 cubic inch fuel injected V8 (engine suffix code F1023EL - date code correct and likely original). This one is a completely rebuilt factory correct high performance 283 with the factory hi-lift camshaft and the legendary Rochester Ramjet Fuel Injection System. It is mated to a smooth shifting 3-speed close ratio synchro- mesh manual transmission with correct early-build chrome shifter ball. It also has the highway gear ratio in the rear differential for smooth comfortable cruising and better fuel mileage. Only 94 '57 Fuellie's were made with the 579B motors combined with the 3.70:1 Postraction rear axle and far fewer in Black Tuxedo with Silver Cove Body! The bodywork is remarkable. All painted surfaces are virtually perfect with a glossy finish. Glass is all excellent, body panels are flush and laser straight, and chrome is flawless. The black convertible top and rear windshield are in perfect condition. This car is concourse show quality throughout and a rolling piece of art, yet an absolute pleasure to drive. This example has been 'Bloomington Gold' certified which is the ultimate Corvette award and having won 2 'NCRS' Top Flight Awards!! In Australia this '57 Vette won 'Best Convertible' at both the 2001 Corvette Nationals and Queensland Concourse. The red interior is fully restored and in mint condition down to the steering wheel, and all gauges, switches and dials are fully functional with the exception of the clock. The optional and original AM "Wonderbar" radio works perfectly, also a detachable hart-top, courtesy lights, heater, parking brake alarm, windscreen washers, the positive traction rear axle. Wheels and wheel covers are also flawless and are wrapped in period correct Firestone Delux Champion Whitewall P205/75/R15 radial tires. The undercarriage is as perfect as the top side and has been expertly detailed, down to the immaculate genuine leather rebound straps on the rear suspension. This car rides and drives like a dream and runs and shifts smoothly with a nice easy clutch. The gentle burble of the high lift performance cam resonating through the correct dual exhaust and passing through the flawless chrome bumperettes is truly intoxicating. The history file on this magnificent example is extensive from original delivery and dealer paperwork to magazines articles featured, invoices from the new and plaques, authenticity paperwork, with many many invoices and receipts along her history lines this truly is a global sourced authentic and very limited series Corvette to add to any serious classic American muscle car collection in the world. • The Story of a Global Brand A. Louis Chevrolet and the Legend Of
Chevrolet – the Story of a Global Brand A. Louis Chevrolet and the Legend of Beaune Like many inventors and pioneers, Louis Chevrolet (1878-1941), the racing driver and automobile designer, represents a challenge for any historian or biographer. Myths and legends surround him and his life. Numerous anecdotes have been told about his career. Today, it has become very difficult to differentiate between fact and fiction. Chevrolet's childhood and youth are well documented. In 1878, he was born on Christmas day in the town of La Chaux-de- Fonds in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. He spent his early childhood nearby in the sleepy little village of Bonfol. Even today, Bonfol remains a small town where the only reminder of its famous son is a memorial plaque on Place Louis Chevrolet. When Louis was nine years old, his family moved to Beaune in Baby Louis Chevrolet France. There, Louis' father owned a watch store, but the venture was not successful. As a result, Louis started working at the age of eleven to support his family. He found employment in the Robin bicycle workshop, where he learned the fundamentals of mechanics. He repaired coaches and bicycles, until one day he was sent to the "Hôtel de la Poste" to repair a steam-driven tricycle belonging to an American. This must have been the moment when Chevrolet fell in love twice. He fell in love with automobiles, and also with the idea of emigrating to America. The American, whose tricycle Chevrolet had skillfully repaired was none other than the multimillionaire Vanderbilt.
