THE WASHINGTON FAMILY In 1632 the Archbishop of Canterbury made Lawrence Washington Proctor at the University of Oxford and appointed him to the well-compensated rectory of Purleigh, Essex. During the Civil War Lawrence Washington was stripped of his post and reassigned to an impoverished parish. His wife Amphilis and their children did not accompany him. They were given shelter by the family of Sir Edwin Sandys, a relation who was a founder of the Virginia Company (see our paper on the Virginia Charter: 1606 AD). Edwin Sandys was knighted by King James I on his ascension to the throne in 1603 (Francis Bacon also knighted the same year by the same sovereign - see our paper 1561 AD). In 1633 John Washington was born in Purleigh, Essex. (Died 1677) In 1656 John Washington invested in a merchant ship transporting tobacco from America to Europe. He left England and landed in America the following year. He stayed with another settler family and married his daughter. As a wedding gift the couple were granted 700 acres. He became a successful planter and was elected to the Virginia House. In 1676 John Washington was appointed a Colonel in the Virginia militia. He led a company to back a group of Marylanders having a parley with native chiefs. Washington’s company killed six chiefs of various tribes resulting in a breakdown in relations between natives and colonists. In 1659 Lawrence Washington II was born. (Died 1698) mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com He was sent back to England to be educated as a lawyer. As eldest son he inherited two substantial estates from his father: Mattox Creek (1,850 acres) and Little Hunting Creek (2,500 acres)1. He was elected to the Virginia House and active in politics. In 1694 Augustine Washington was born. (Died 1743) He became a planter, active in the Anglican Church, elected to the Virginia House, and served as county sheriff. In 1731 George Washington was born. On his father’s death he inherited a minor property and its slaves. In 1761 he later inherited one of the two larger tracts of family land. In 1749 George Washington was appointed official surveyor for Culpeper County, a well-paid position that allowed him to acquire land in the Shenandoah Valley. In 1752 George Washington joined the Fredericksburg Lodge as a Free-Mason (age 20). In 1753 George Washington was raised to Master Mason at Fredericksburg Lodge.2 TREATY OF UTRECHT In 1713 the Treaty of Utrecht concluded a comprehensive peace between all the major European powers which also resulted in a division of North America colonies. The French ceded Rupert’s Land (Hudson’s Bay), Newfoundland and Nova Scotia to England. The French retained Ile-St-Jean (Prince Edward Island) and Ile Royale (Cape Breton Island) on which France erected the Fortress of Louisburg. In return the French retained Canada (the modern provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba), and the territory of Louisiana. The Treaty did not fix a boundary between the English colonies on the east coast and the Louisiana hinterlands under French colonial government. This was a grievous oversight. By the 1720’s the French had installed a government in New Orleans for the territory. In 1722 France unilaterally claimed all land south of the Great Lakes and north of the mouth of the Ohio River. 1 Later renamed Mount Vernon 2 1789 inaugurated President taking his oath on a Lodge Bible; 1793 acting as Grand Master laid the cornerstone for the US capitol (in full masonic regalia); 1799 buried at Mount Vernon with Masonic rites conducted by Alexandria Lodge mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com MAP OF NORTH AMERICA IN 1750 THE OHIO COMPANY In 1748 the Thomas Lee and Lawrence and Augustine Washington organized the Ohio Company to represent the prospecting and trading interests of Virginia investors: including some leading families: John Hanbury, Colonel Cresap, George Mercer, and John Mercer. In 1748 George Mercer petitioned King George for land in the Ohio country. In 1749 the British Crown granted the Ohio Company 500,000 acres in the Ohio Valley between the Kanawha River and Monongahela. The first 200,000 acres was promised, the following 300,000 acres were to be granted if the Ohio Company successfully settled one hundred families in seven years. The Ohio Company was required to construct a fort. mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com In 1750 the Ohio Company gave a contract to Cresap to blaze a small road over the mountains. Christopher Gist was hired to explore Ohio and identify lands for settlement. In 1753 the organizers signed a treaty of friendship with the main tribes of the region. In 1753 the Governor appointed George Washington to the rank of Major in the militia. BOUNDARY CONFLICTS In 1753 Virginia Governor Dinwiddie learned the French had constructed two forts just south of Lake Erie. He saw the forts as threatening Virginia’s interests. In fact he considered Virginia to be ‘exposed to the enemy’. Dinwiddie sent an eight man expedition under George Washington to warn the French to withdraw. The French commander politely received him and sent him back with a letter saying his request would be forwarded on to the military leadership in Quebec. Dinwiddie sent a sent a force of Virginia militia to build a fort at the forks of the Ohio River. The French quickly drove off the Virginians and built a large fort there, Fort Duquesne. BATTLE OF JUMONVILLE GLEN Governor Dinwiddie ordered Washington back to the frontier with the following orders: ‘act on the [defensive], but in Case any Attempts are made to obstruct the Works or interrupt our [settlements] by any Persons whatsoever, You are to restrain all such Offenders, & in Case of resistance to make Prisoners of or kill & destroy them’. On May 28, 1754 newly promoted Lieutenant Colonel George Washington crept up unawares, and ambushed a camp of 35 French-Canadians. The French commander, Jumonville, died. After the action, George Washington retreated and built a small stockade, Fort Necessary. Forces from Fort Duquesne compelled him to surrender. Under the terms of the surrender Washington signed a statement (in French) saying Jumonville was slain on his orders. A sworn eyewitness statement of Private John Shaw, a Virginia militiaman, said a native leader under Washington’s command tomahawked Jumonville in the head after the French had formally surrendered, washed his hands with his brains, and scalped him. mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR (1754-62) The French and British bolstered forces in the colonies. There was a string of French victories on land. In 1755 the British fired on a French ship. THE SEVEN YEARS WARS (1756-62) In 1756 France and Britain declared war on each other. The global conflict lasted 7 years. PROPHECY OF JEREMIAH “Thus says the LORD, Go get a flask, an earthenware vessel of a craftsman, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests.” (Jeremiah 19 v 1) The Hebrew word for ‘flask’ means a vessel for drinking. The word even sounds like drinking: ‘glug-glug’. The vessel called for is earthenware, clay that has been hardened through fire. ”Thus says the LORD, Go get a flask, an earthenware vessel” George Washington was God’s chosen vessel. The people of America would drink his words, like a tipster draining fermented drink from a flask, and become drunk on them. George Washington was such a hardened vessel. He was toughened by frontier life. He was a slave master. He was six feet tall and towered over other men. His physique was sturdy like a battleship. He loved the blood sports: fox chase and cock-fighting. He was a businessman and wheeler-dealer. He was a land investor with an eye to personal gain. He was a military officer, ready to send his own men to their death and ready to send enemies to their death. He was an aristocrat, an arrogant person of rank in Virginia. His advice concerning common people was: ‘treat them civilly’ but ‘keep them at a proper distance for they will grow upon familiarity in proportion to your loss of authority’. ”of a craftsman” The word in this passage is translated ‘potter’ in the King James Bible. But the Hebrew word has no connection with pottery per se; it has a broader meaning: ‘a creator, one who forms’. What does a craftsman do? He sees earth and forms a drinking flask. He sees metal and forms a gun. He sees a tree branch and forms a flute. He sees bare land and he forms a city. mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com George Washington was a craftsman, even a Master Mason. And he ‘formed’ America! The Free-Masons are a society of craftsmen, so they even call themselves: builders of cities, formers of nations, architects of man’s wisdom and knowledge, humanists who believe man can possess great power to mold creation into a servant of his desires and ambitions. Secure behind the doors of oaths and imprecations, they devise their schemes among their ancient families to enrich themselves through access to power and insider knowledge.
