You can choose to run PMOS in the normal mode for your business works. Or you can select the recovery mode to reset PMOS to the original state if you damaged the PMOS system accidentally. Your PMOS is always working unless you physically damaged the USB media drive. To correctly run your brand new PMOS, the following steps should be taken in sequence:

1. Boot your PC from USB HDD. 2. Select your preferred language setting. 3. Set up the wireless connection if it is available on your PC. 4. Select a screen wallpaper. 5. Use Firefox web browser to surf the Internet and configure your own bookmarks. 6. Activate Avast! anti-virus application and scan your data for PMOS and Windows. 7. Restart the PMOS.

Congratulations! After rebooting, you can begin using your customized PMOS.

1. Booting Your PC from USB HDD

PMOS can be booted from any USB bootable PC. During the power-up booting, the PC boot menu can be opened by pressing [Esc], [F8], [F9], [F10] or [F12] function key in most desktop, notebook and netbook PCs. Set [USB HDD] to the first boot device in BIOS selection or just select [USB HDD] from boot menu. The PMOS will be booted as shown:

2. Setting Up the Wireless Connection on Your PC

The first time you activate wireless connection through your PMOS, the system will ask you to enter your wireless network security key and to set a password. This password will be used in the future to access the wireless connection through your PMOS. If you have an unsecured wireless connection, you may not have to set wireless security key, though it is not encouraged.

3. Selecting Wallpaper

Select the [Preferences] tab on the left-hand menu.

Select the [Appearance] icon.

After selecting the [Background] tab, you may add or remove image files to the [Wallpaper] directory. To set an image as your background, simply click on the image of your choice from the [Wallpaper] directory.

4. Surfing the Internet

To access the Internet, click on the [Favorites] tab in the left-hand menu, and then select the [Firefox] web browser icon.

It is recommended that you save a copy of your [Firefox] bookmarks. From the web browser’s [Bookmarks] menu, select [Organize Bookmarks] and open [Library]. In [Library], select the [Import and Backup] tab. Choose [Backup] to save your Firefox bookmarks.

You can go through the similar way to restore the [Bookmarks] if necessary.

5. Activating the Anti-virus Application

You can access [avast!], a free anti-virus application, under the [Accessories] tab in the left- hand menu. To register and retrieve an activation key, visit the [avast!] website

After you launch [avast! Antivirus], you can update the virus definition database.

Since the OS of PMOS is read-only, it is not infected by virus. However your Windows OS partition can be virus infective. You can click [Selected folders] to add [+] Windows partition for virus scan. The Windows partition is under [/media] directory.

6. Selecting Your Preferred Language

You can select your preferred language setting by choosing the [Language Support] icon under the [Administration] tab in the left-hand menu.

PMOS supports Chinese, Dutch, German, English, Finnish, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. After selecting a language, restart your PMOS by choosing the [Quit] icon in the lower-right corner.

If you do the [logout] (neither restart nor shutdown) from PMOS, log back into PMOS by setting your username as []. You will not need to enter a password. Some situation there are too many hardware driver settings for PMOS to figure out on some PCs, the PMOS screen setting, partition mount or wireless connection may not work correctly at this time. You can do the [logout] then re-login to allow PMOS back to normal state.

In the case of PMOS recovery

PMOS has normal mode and recovery mode on the same USB media drive. If you damaged the PMOS accidentally during the operation, you can use the [Recovery] feature to reset PMOS back to its original state like a brand new.

In [Administration] tab, you can find the [Recovery PMOS] icon.

Click the [Recovery PMOS] icon and follow the simple instructions to recover PMOS. After the recovery procedure, restart the PMOS and run it in normal mode.
