The Club’s first venture into the Veteran’s League was enthusiastically supported by the ‘elderly’ or should we say ‘more mature’ members from the B’s, C’s and D teams. Although looking at several of the team, mature is probably not the first word that springs to mind. Our tentative first step into the 100+ veterans was decidedly average, won 3 lost 3 but with two close losses 4-5 there are opportunities to improve our record next year, most importantly we all had fun. For the third year in a row, it was Canada who reigned supreme, with the team of Henry Lai, Gilles Bonnier, Fred Horsey and Job Tang coming out on top of the other seven teams. In second place were Hong Kong United, led by Simon Cheung while Team China, represented by Yoke Ming Ong, Jenny Chu, Austin Ho and a couple of ring ins finished third. Special mention goes to Tanya’s United Nations (Tanya Master, Maree Prebble, Jil Leong and Haj Wilcox) who were splendidly dressed in traditional Mexican attire.
