 Round seven of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R driving duo of Jordan Taylor and Renger van der Zande about an hour’s drive north and east of Toronto to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario for Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix.  Taylor, van der Zande and the team arrive at the 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course fifth in the championship, 14 points out of first after last Sunday’s fourth-place result at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.  Last Sunday’s result gave Taylor, van der Zande and the team the outright lead in this year’s Michelin Endurance Cup championship within a championship after winning the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, and finishing runner-up at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Points for the Endurance Cup are scored at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and the season-ending at . They are two points ahead of the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R team, which was the Daytona runner-up, Sebring winner and seventh-place finisher at Watkins Glen.  This Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute race at Bowmanville takes the team to one of its most successful tracks in recent years, where Taylor and his older brother Ricky scored a resounding victory in 2015 sandwiched by a pair of third-place finishes in 2014 and 2016, and another dominating run in 2017 that ended with a late-race incident after leading a race-high 73 laps.  Last year at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Taylor and van der Zande ended a string of three consecutive fifth-place finishes by taking the runner-up spot in the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix. They combined to lead a race-high 71 of 116 laps.  Two years ago this weekend, Ricky Taylor qualified the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R on the pole, and he and his younger brother maintained control of the race until Jordan Taylor made contact with a GTLM-class competitor while leading by more than 20 seconds with just 20 minutes to go in the race. Taylor stayed in the lead after the incident, but pit lane was never opened during the subsequent caution period, and he was forced to wait until the race went back to green before he could enter pit lane and allow the team to repair damage from the accident. He crossed the finish line seventh, two laps down, after the checkered flag flew.  Three years ago this weekend, Ricky Taylor qualified on the front row, grabbed the lead from polesitting Mazda driver Tristan Nunez and held the point for the opening 11 laps. In the latter stages of the race, Jordan Taylor found himself battling for the lead with the Action Express Racing entries. A late-race gamble to change just rear tires temporarily allowed the younger Taylor to regain the lead, but he ultimately had to hold on for a third-place finish – the team’s third consecutive podium in three visits to the track.  Four years ago, Ricky Taylor qualified on the pole and led the opening 28 laps of the race, but it wasn’t until nine minutes remained in the two- hour, 40-minute race before Jordan Taylor got the lead back for good with a pass of in the No. 31 Action Express Racing entry. The two waged an exciting battle to the checkered flag, with Taylor crossing the finish line .477 of a second ahead of Cameron. -more-

 In their first appearance at the track five years ago, the Taylor brothers qualified sixth and overcame an early off-course excursion to bring home a gutsy third-place finish, widening their lead atop the point standings with their fifth podium in the first seven events of 2014.  This weekend marks van der Zande’s fourth career appearance at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. After an early exit due to engine issues with the LMPC-class Starworks Motorsport in 2015, he and co-driver Alex Popow came back with a runner-up finish in class for the Starworks team in 2016. In 2017, van der Zande and Marc Goosens retired just 35 laps into the race in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona entry.   The team opened the 2019 season with its second Rolex 24 At Daytona victory in the last three seasons. veteran Fernando Alonso and former Formula One and current FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) veteran joined Taylor and van der Zande in the cockpit. In 2017, Taylor scored the Rolex 24 victory for the team co-driving with his older brother Ricky, Angelelli, and four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon.  In this season’s second race, Taylor and van der Zande were joined for the first time by third driver Matthieu Vaxivière of France in their trouble- free run at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring that netted the team’s third consecutive top-two finish in the 67th running of America’s oldest sportscar endurance marathon.  With their victory at last year’s season-ending Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, their fourth podium finish of the season, Taylor and van der Zande rallied to finish third in the final 2018 championship standings, seven points out of first, in followup to the team’s 2017 championship.
