2.5. Diagnostic Notes **Adult**

Forewing greyish brown, variably suffused with darker brown; postmedian and antemedian fasciae dark greyish brown; postmedian fascia double, with pale line between; pale band along basal margin of antemedian fascia; two dark discal spots usually present. Hindwing shining white, variably suffused with grey. Head and thorax greyish brown, abdomen usually paler; antennae simple, filiform.

**Egg**

Oval with slight projection at one end; surface with irregular, star-shaped sculpturing; yellowish white. About 125 eggs laid on the foodstuff or on sacking.

**Larva**

Head reddish brown or yellowish brown marked with darker brown; body yellowish white; peritreme of spiracles, pinacula, prothoracic and anal plates and parts of thoracic legs reddish or yellowish brown. Eighth abdominal segment with spiracle distinctly smaller than area enclosed by pigmented ring encircling base of seta directly above spiracle. Minute seta in from of spiracle never on a pigmented plate.

**Pupa**

Pale yellow at first, becoming reddish brown; spiracles slightly raised; cremaster rounded, with eight hooked setae.
