RELEASE NUMBER 5 (September 26, 2011) FCS-Pacific (National) | KOA-RADIO | CUBUFFS.COM (Live Stats) QUICKLY SPEAKING … The Colorado Buffaloes (1-3, 0-0 Pac-12) have their first league game as a member of the Pac-12 Conference this Saturday, hosting the Washington State Cougars (2-1, 0-0 Pac-12) in a 1:40 p.m. kickoff at Folsom Field … The game will be televised nationally by Fox College Sports and will air on its Pacific Network (Ch. 415 on Denver/Boulder Comcast; DirecTV and DISH channels TBA) … The Buffs are 78-37-2 in conference openers (5-2 in their first game in a brand new league); CU was 8-7 in Big 12 openers and won its last seven as a member of the Big 8 … CU is coming off a 37-17 loss at Ohio State where field position dictated the entire game: OSU’s average starting field position was the CU47 (Colorado’s was its own 18) … The Buffaloes are 12-3 at home since mid-1984 when losing by 20 or more points the previous week on the road … WSU is the first of three opponents (all this month) who will play CU with the schedule break of having the previous week off; Washington (Oct. 15) and Arizona State (Oct. 29) are idle the previous Saturdays as well and also will have a full two weeks to prep for the Buffaloes … CU’s director of equipment, J.T. That ties for the second fewest rushing attempts in a game in Colorado history. The Buffs had 14 against Iowa State in Boulder in 1982 (for 76 yards, the same amount CU gained in Columbus); and had 16 against Louisiana State in the ’62 Orange Bowl (for 24 yards) and versus Oklahoma in the 2004 Big 12 Championship game (for a net minus four yards). Colorado’s slow starts have been well documented, but when the light switch is flicked, look out.
