***News Release*** WORLD ZOO DIRECTORS MAKE FRIENDLY WAGER Texas Pralines and Tequila vs. Ghirardelli Chocolate and Vino

SAN FRANCISCO ( 27, 2010) – Let the games begin and may the best grizzly bear or armadillo win. Zoo Directors from the Zoological Society and the Fort Worth Zoo are ready to put forth a friendly wager, as they root for their home team in this year’s World Series game featuring the and the .

Fort Worth Zoo Director Michael Fouraker and San Francisco Zoo Executive Director Tanya Peterson are not giving up any of their beloved animals, but will send along a congratulatory gift with a city-themed array of goodies, winning team memorabilia and Zoo swag.

“There’s nothing better than a little rivalry between zoos – fear the beard, Fouraker,” said Tanya Peterson, executive director and president of the San Francisco Zoo. “The entire city is celebrating and supporting the Giants and the Zoo is no exception. In the end, we hope to send a little piece of San Francisco to the great state of Texas.”

If the Texas Rangers win the World Series, Peterson will send a gift of Ghirardelli chocolate and vino. Should the San Francisco Giants win the World Series, Fouraker will ensure a package of Texas pralines and tequila makes it to the West Coast.

“Our claws and antlers are mightier than any beard,” said Michael Fouraker, Fort Worth Zoo executive director. “And when we win, Tanya, I prefer a dry merlot.”

The San Francisco Zoo is celebrating the World Series and visitors will definitely feel the Giants love from the chimpanzee grottos and bear dens to the African Savanna and Children’s Zoo.
