Known for his nose-butter take-offs, Henrik throws some of the most creative tricks in . The Swede cut his famous dreadlocks for the first time in six years in June 2015, going from mid-back to shoulder length. He claimed the weight of the hair was hurting his neck and affecting the rotation of his spins. He finished 4th in Big Air in snowy conditions at Aspen 2016. He's also said that keeping closeted may have led to struggles at XG. Despite immense all-around skills -- he's won the AFP overall title five years running -- Kenworthy had just 1 medal in 16 XG competition starts (Slopestyle bronze, XG Tignes 2013). Without the pressure of hiding his "true self," Kenworthy finally delivered on skiing's biggest stage at Aspen 2016, earning silver in both and Slopestyle. It was the first time an athlete had medaled in the two disciplines at the same XG since Jon Olsson's streak in 2002- 2005.

In both 2012 and 2013, he competed in all three freestyle ski disciplines at XG Aspen -- Slopestyle, SuperPipe and Big Air, proving he's one of the most versatile skiers on the planet. At the , Jossi was the only skier to compete in both slopestyle (11th) and halfpipe (4th). Focusing solely on slopestyle in 2016, Wells won his first X Games gold in his 24th start in Aspen. About Oystein Hailing from the small town of Torpo, (pop. 405!), this Olympian finished 13th as an X Games rookie in 2015. He upped that to bronze in 2016, one of 4 Norwegians to medal at Aspen 2016. Oystein scored a second place at the Dec. 2014 Dew Tour in Breckenridge and he's currently ranked 6th in the AFP slopestyle rankings. About Tiril After missing XG Aspen 2014 and 2015, the talented Norwegian skier scored silver at Aspen 2016. At Aspen 2013, when the focus was on Kaya Turski's quest for the four-peat, Tiril, then 17, took gold as a rookie. Six weeks later, she earned silver at XG Tignes. By year's end, she finished second overall in the AFP rankings for slopestyle. A favorite for gold at both Aspen and Sochi in 2014, Tiril tore her left ACL in Dec. 2013 and missed the season. She also missed XG Aspen 2015. In Feb. 2015, she returned to competition and has made the podium in 9 of 10 events since (as of Feb. 15th, 2016).

About Emma Skiing sans poles, Sweden's Emma Dahlstrom nailed one of the most difficult rail lines in women's skiing slopestyle history, regardless of contest, at XG Aspen 2015. By winning, she became the first woman skier from Sweden with gold since Sanna Tidstrand in Skier X 2005. Emma practiced all week without poles, not because she was injured, but because, as she joked, she has a tendency to lose them. Dahlstrom rode her XG momentum the rest of the season. By year's end, she secured the overall slopestyle titles for both the FIS World Cup and the AFP. She finished 6th at XG Aspen 2016.

In Aspen, she logged the highest score of the comp during her first run (93.00), and it held up as former X Games gold medalists like Tiril Sjastad Christiansen and Emma Dahltstrom, as well as 2014 Olympic gold medalist , made pass after pass. By winning gold she became the youngest gold medalist at a winter event, topping the record set by in 2015 (and Kim broke a record that had stood for 15 years). She is the second youngest gold medalist in X Games history (behind , who was 13 when he won Skateboard Park gold in 2003). Is also the first Estonian X Games medalist.
