Kennedy made his debut following the Major League debut of another Padre, RHP Trevor Wingenter, to close out last night's contest.....San Diego had back-to-back games earlier this year where one pitcher finished the game in his debut and another started in his debut the next game: RHP Adam Cimber finished the game on 3/29 vs. Milwaukee and LHP Joey Lucchesi started on 3/30 vs. Milwaukee, also opposite Chacín.....this is the last such instance in the majors. The back-to-back-to-back homers allowed in the first inning marked the first time the Padres had given up 3 straight homers since they allowed 4 in a row to tie the game, 9-9, in the ninth inning on 9/18/06 at Los Angeles-NL.....they were hit by Jeff Kent and J.D. Drew off RHP Jon Adkins and Russell Martin and Marlon Anderson off RHP Trevor Hoffman. 1B Eric Hosmer extended his on-base streak to a season high-tying 14 games.....he also reached base in 14 straight from 5/11-5/26.....has a .387 OBP during the streak, which dates back to 7/23, with hits in 13 of the 14 games. PH Carlos Asuaje struck out in his only time up, extending his hitless streak to 33 at-bats, the longest active streak among position players. LF Hunter Renfroe has hit safely in all 6 games this month, batting .360 (9-for-25) with 3 homers and 8 RBI.....hit his 11th home run of the season in the sixth inning.....has homered in 3 straight games for the first time in his career. The Padres allowed a season high-tying 5 homers for the fourth time, first since 7/7 at Arizona.....have allowed 5+ runs in 10 of the last 12 games.....fall to 1-4 against the Brewers. Brewers Notes RHP Jhoulys Chacín recorded his team-leading 11th win, improving to 11-4 with a 3.91 ERA (138ip, 60er) in a team-leading 25 starts this season, including 5-2 with a 3.57 ERA (58ip, 23er) in 10 starts at home.....is now 7-2 with a 3.52 ERA (76.2ip, 30er) in 16 career appearances (12 starts) against San Diego, who he spent last season with, including 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA (9.1ip, 7er) in 2 starts this season. 1B Jesús Aguilar hit his 28th home run of the season in the first inning.....was his 15th home run with 2 strikes.....entering play, only Cleveland's José Ramírez (15) could match this total.....now has 50 RBI with 2 strikes, most in the majors this season and tied with Prince Fielder (2009) for the single-season franchise record.....has homered in consecutive games for the eighth time in his career and sixth time this year, first since 7/8-7/9. 2B Travis Shaw followed Aguilar with his 23rd home run of the season in the first inning.....was his first career homer as a second baseman.....has homered in a career high-tying 3 straight starts for the third time, also 6/25-6/28 and 4/18-4/20, last season. RF Eric Thames made it three straight home runs in the first inning with his 16th homer of the season.....marked the seventh time the Brewers have hit 3 straight homers, first since the third inning on 5/9/15 at Detroit (Ryan Braun, Adam Lind, Aramis Ramírez).....according to Stats, Inc., this marked the first time Milwaukee had ever done this at home. LF Christian Yelich hit his 18th home run of the season in the sixth inning, coming in his 101st game, matching his total from last year with Miami (156 games).....leads the Brewers with 7 homers in 18 games since 7/21, 2 more than Shaw (5). CF Lorenzo Cain stole his 20th base of the season in the second inning.....this is his fourth season, and second in a row, with 20+ steals, all coming since 2014. SS Orlando Arcia tied his career high with 3 hits for the 17th time (2nd time this season).....hit his first homer since 4/19 vs. Miami, spanning 55 games and 182 plate appearances at the Major League level.....this was a career-long homerless streak for Arcia. The Brewers hit a season-high 5 homers, their most since 8/16/17 vs. Pittsburgh (5).....had homers by 5 different players, tying the franchise record in a single game for the 16th time, first since 6/29/17 at Cincinnati.....improve to 20-9 vs. the NL West, including 4-1 against San Diego.....have scored 4+ runs in the first inning in 3 of the last 4 games. • Pronk's Homer Punctuates Sweep of Royals by Robert Falkoff / Special
Pronk's homer punctuates sweep of Royals By Robert Falkoff / Special to MLB.com | 4/15/2012 8:20 PM ET KANSAS CITY -- The Indians made a statement with their offense over the weekend and Travis Hafner delivered the symbolic exclamation point. In Cleveland's 13-7 victory over the Royals on Sunday, Hafner launched the most majestic of his team's four homers. Hafner's 456-foot blast to right field in the fifth inning off Luis Mendoza traveled so far that it wound up as a souvenir inside Rivals Sports Bar, which is located high above the wall. No word on whether it came down in somebody's order of chicken wings. It was the first homer to land in the Rivals establishment since Kauffman Stadium was renovated in 2009. In short, Hafner got all of it and then some. "I was able to stay back on an off-speed pitch and backspin it," said Hafner, who finished 3-for-4. "I think there have been some [homers] before that measured in the 470s, but that's about as good as I can hit 'em." Shelley Duncan, Casey Kotchman and Jason Kipnis joined Hafner in the home run parade, as the Indians put up runs in bunches and applied the finishing touches on a three-game sweep. Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez, making his return from a five-game suspension, labored through five innings, but got the win thanks to robust offensive support. "The first three innings, it was hard to get in a good rhythm," said Jimenez, who refused to use rustiness as an excuse.
