Within the context of our chapter on the cinema, our class has decided to make a complete magazine speaking about cinema. We are of course led by our English teacher, Mrs. Collomb-Patton. All of your favorite actors have met in this one and only magazine, just for you !

For this brand new edition, our journalists have chosen several subjects, like games, reviews by professionals on the most popular movies, presentation of actors, what’s next in cinemas; movies that you have been waiting for so long to be released. It is based on the Japanese flm of the same name. Katie has a life threatening sensitivity to sunlight so during the day, she is forced to stay at home with her dad as her only . Here is a survey on cinema that allows us to know what adults and teenagers think about cinema, what they would like to change or improve in cinema but also what they do more often when they go to the cinema. We asked about 65 adults and 75 teenagers to do the survey.

Question 1 : What’s your favorite moment to go to the cinema ?

There are 60% of adults and 61% of teenagers who prefer to go to the cinema in the night. There are 35% of adults and and 39% of teenagers who go to the cinema in the afternoon. And 5% of adults go to the cinema in the morning.

There are 91% of adults and 92% of teenagers who are satisfied with movie theater. And there are 9% of adults and 8% of teenagers who are not satisfied with movie theater.

After « Stuck in Love », you must go see « The Fault in Our Stars » ! This new film will be better than the last one, more interesting and more captivating ! It will be less boring than the first he realised.

It’s the story of a girl, Hazel who has cancer and meets Augustus in an association for teenagers who have illness. She falls in love with him and they bond. Later, they are going to travel to Amsterdam together but soon, they are going to discover a terrible thing which will switch the story.

Acting : The language of this movie is easy to understand if you are not English because the actors played well with emotions and gestures. Scene : All of the distressing scenes of this film make you feel and realise the reality of cancer. General : There is a splendid camera work and a beautiful soundtrack with great songs.

The end : You will see but I think the end of this movie is so tragic and sad because there is a switch. General : In this film, at some point you can think it is a little long and

uninteresting but it’s the only bad thing.

This movie is a blockbuster, easy to understand, captivating and wonderful. There is just a sad oet but it’s a draa so it’s ormal. You must see it once in your life !!!

Bride Wars

Emma and Liv are best friends who have planned their weddings. They both have made it a priority to be married in the Plaza Hotel in June but everything does not go as planned. Both weddings are planned the same day so Emma and Liv do everything to sabotage each other’s wedding

THE GOOD : Bride Wars is a very funny movie because the context of two best friends who always find themselves fighting to get the right wedding day is unusual. All the costumes are more magnificent than the others. The wedding dresses are beautiful, especially worme on the main actresses . All the actors played very well. We can also think it’s a real story because of their acting!

THE BAD : The end is really to hasty because it is finished when we know that both friends are pregnant and their babies are going to be born on the same day and after we don’t know what is going to happen. Sometimes there are moments that are too long especially during the end of this movie, in the church.

Bride Wars is a very good film because of the acting, costumes, funny moments which are good. This comedy was a blockbuster because the context is unusual. But the end is to hasty and we really want to see a sequel, but now we are in 2018 and it’s too late to have one. Next year we can celebrate the birthday of this blockbuster, it will be ten years old !

The Hangover was really expected by the American public. I appreciate actors who play in it. The film is brilliant. Moreover, the actors are Oscar winners. For example, Bradley Cooper won in 2015 the Oscars for the best actor in American Sniper. The Hangover is a blockbuster.

This film talks about 4 friends (Stu, Phil, Alan and Doug). Doug gets ready to get married. So his friends decide to prepare his bachelor party. For that, they go to and book a room in the largest hotel of the city. They drink all night. The next orig they do’t reeer aythig. Doug has disappeared. Stu has lost a tooth, a ay is hidde i a cupboard, there is a tiger in the bath room and Phil has a hospital bracelet. During the film, there will be a long story to remember this crazy and hilarious night. Will the 3 friends find Doug? Will Doug get married?

The Characters: The characters are so true-to-life. Each has his own personality. They are all different. It’s distratig. They hae an amazing friendship!

The story: The story is really pleasat. It’s a good idea to ake a fil aout a ahelor party! The oie plot is aessile for eeryoe ad it’s easy to uderstad.

The opening scene: We are immediately in the head of the moment. It presents the characters with humour.

Some scenes: Soe sees are too farsighted. We do’t hae ay surprise. Moreoer, to or three scenes can be too stereotypical and unusual. These things make us lose a little bit the humour of the film.

I really enjoyed this film! The actors were so true-to-life and the music was really excellent. The film mixed oedy ad atio, all that I loe! This fil did’t hae ay faults. I y opiio, it’s a suess!

March 24, 2018, Camille Bouvier The Great and Powerful Oz

During the holidays I saw a movie that I want to tell you about. It’s named : The Great and Powerful Oz.

Genre : It’s a fantastic and adventure movie.

The beginning of the film is in black and white. We meet a wizard named Oz who is doing shows to win money but after an horrible show he has to leave in a balloon because an extremely strong man wants to kill him. But the balloon goes in a terrifying tornado. When the tornado stops, the balloon falls in another world which is marvellous. There the film becomes in colours. Oz meets a good witch and learns that he has to be be the new king of the kingdom, which is also named Oz. But some bad witches want to kill him to govern the kingdom.

There are no famous actors in this movie but the acting is not bad and the magical characters are great and realistic.

The good : - The movie in black and white that becomes in colours after 20 minutes, that’s original. - There are beautiful landscapes in this film. - You can see it with kids but maybe they will be afraid, because of the witches.

The bad : - There are no famous actors in it so this movie is not very popular. - For me there is maybe too much magic in this film.

This movie with a lot of magic is great because the characters are friendly and kind (excepted the witches, of course). There is suspense until the end and beautiful landscapes. I advise you to see it (with your family if you want).

Hi guys! I am going to speak to you about the movie Irreplaceable You It was released in 2018. I watched this movie in February and I appreciated it a lot!

Genre: romantic comedy-drama Credits:

The main actors are Gugu Mbatha Raw and Michiel Huisman, They play Abbie and Sam. Michiel Huisman also plays in but I prefer his role in this movie. Gugu Mbatha Raw was nominated to The British Awards for her role in Belle.

The directors are Stephanie Laing and Bess Whol.

The plot is about a girl thinking that she is pregnant but she has cancer. She teaches her husband how to behave when she will be dead. She goes to a cancer club. The cancer club helps patients with their cancer. Abbie mets Myron and they become friends.

That movie isn’t based on a true story but this can happen to anyone in real life.

The moment that touched me the most was when the doctor said that she has cancer, it marks the beginning of the story. My favorite actor is . He plays Myron. He is touching, event though he is sick he is very positive. The movie atmosphere was moving thanks sometimes to the music: it was sad enough to make the story more dramatic. I feel really close to the actors thanks to the framing used.

The topic is familiar and the end of the movie brings no surprise.

I haven’t seen any movie of Stephanie Laing and Bess Whol before but I will see the next one because I have loved Irreplaceable You. I advise it to you! My girl.

°My girl is the first movie of two. It won a lot of awards like the award of "the most promising actress" for Anna Chlumsky or the "favourite movie" on the kids choice awards. It's a drama and a love story. the atmosphere is dark and a little morbid. °I personally enjoyed this movie because it was more moving than movies I'm used to watch. I feel there is a real work of reflection because the film sends a sad message with children and that's difficult. I see myself in the character of Vada and the movie show us that children can have some difficult moments too.

During my holidays, as always, I watched a movie, today it’s The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas which is based on the book of the Irish writer John Boyne. Is this film, which had many nominations and awards,as good as its reputation ?

• Hello everybody after a long time of suspense the new film of James Gray The lost city of Z is coming in your cinema this week. After its amazing trailer of action and adventure everyone wants to see it. I think it will be one of the best blockbusters.

• This film is an action and adventure movie. James Gray is the director of the film and David Grann wrote the screenplay. The main actors who played in the movie are Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller and . This film was shot in Ireland and Colombia, it was released in 2016.

This movie tells the true story of Percival Harrison Fawcett a British explorer at the beginning of the 20th century. He is a colonel of the British army. One day he is tasked by the Geographical Society of London to do an expedition and define a map of the border between Brazil and Bolivia. During his expedition he will hear a strange story about a lost city which is situated in the forest. Will he find it and survive this adventure …? The good critics about this film are:

• The acting was amazing, the three main characters give a wonderful performance. • The suspense: we don’t know what his going to happen because there is a lot of moments in the dark so its mysterious and frightening. • The natural landscapes of Colombia are wonderful and the forest could be considered as one of the main character too as it is playing a key role in setting up the tone of the movie. The bad critics about the film are:

• The opening scene, to set the stage and establish the characters relationship was a bit lengthy in my opinion.

I really loved the moral of the film, that reminds me that life can change overnight ! and that I need to cherish every moments of my life.! I also liked the pastel colors that contrasted with the heavy atmosphere of the movie.! !! I think the movie was too centered on Abbie’s character : her feeling, her sickness. It made an egocentric character that bothered me. I would have loved to discover more !about Sam’s feeling during the movie.! ! ! This new movie is a good one in spite of some faults on Abbie’s character. I still prefer the movie « The faults in our stars ». Hello everybody! In this review, there is the critic of an amazing American movie which takes place in the NASA offces, a drilling station, on an asteroid and in Space. If you love action, science-fction, drama, thriller and love story, you have to see Armageddon!

This movie is about an asteroid which is really big and will crash on the Earth with a speed of 3500 kilometers per hour. The only way to destroy it is to detonate it but by the inside. Six drillers are called by the NASA to complete this dangerous mission. So, they will have to drill a hole on an asteroid and put a bomb in it…

I think we can compare Armageddon and Pearl Harbor. Two flms which features Ben Affeck for the leading role but Armageddon is more thrilling and there is less blood. In these movies, there is a love story and the two lovers are separated because the boy has to “save the world”. You have to see this fabulous movie FILM REVIEW : WHIPLASH, BY D. --- Hi everybody ! Yesterday, for a new review, I saw Whiplash. The poster caught me, the trailer too, and I’m not disappointed. --- First, let me tell you the plot. It tells the story of Andrew Neiman, a student of the best music school in America. He plays drums, but his level is not as brilliant as the others students, so, he hold the music sheets of his comrades. But, one day, he is spotted by the most famous teacher of the school. Andrew will play in his band. This teacher is the most demanding, severe and irritable, but he will change the life of Andrew. -Terence Fletcher (the teacher) J.K Simmons who won an Oscar with Whiplash for Best Actor. - Andrew Neiman Miles Teller, seen in Divergent 1,2,3.

- We are plunged in the atmosphere of the world of jazz by the constant little drum or little jazz music during all the film. J.K Simmons is amazing ! He plays perfectly his role of sadistic. The ending scene is for me a masterpiece. It’s a long drum solo played by Andrew. The film maker wants us to be stressed by the lights, the rythms and the faces.

The love story of the boy during the movie is not necessary.

--- The film shows us the difficult world of professional jazz. It wasn’t boring at any time, I really recommend this film !

Ocean’s eleven is a blockbuster. The movie was the first to be released, after there has been a trilogy. The scene takes place in Las Vegas. Ocean’s eleven is the best that was directed by Steven Soderberg.

Genre : Thriller/action/comedy

Credits : - Director : Steven Soderberg - Writer : Ted Griffin - Actors : Georges Clooney is the leadrole, there are other famous actors such as , , Matt Damon, Andy Gracia, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan…

Plot : The story is about a man who just go out of jail. As soon as he gets out of jail, he wants to rob three hotels in Las Vegas. The man is going to ask then other people to help him with the burglary. They will be eleven to do this. They plan everything before the burglary.

The good : I really enjoyed this movie because the camera work is extraordinary and the ideas of the story has been well found. It has good action scenes and the scene is realistic when they steal hotels. Ocean’s eleven is interesting because you want to know if they will succeed. The special effects are well done. Actors played their role very well.

The bad : I didn’t like it because I can’t imagine this story in true life. The movie was long time and we waited for the end impatiently. I think we were getting lost in the characters because they were too numerous. There is a scene complicated enough understand but we come to understand it, at the the end. Costumes are appropriate.

Though this film had some faults, it was quite an entertaining film. I advise you to watch this american movie because is georgeous if you like action movies and famous actors.

The Murder On The Orient Express

This well known movie is based on the story called « Murder on The Orient Express » and written by Agatha Christie. A lot of good actors played in it and it is a really good reason to see it.

• Genre : Thriller • Directed : Kenneth Branagh • Screenplay : Michael Green • Actors : Kenneth Branagh, Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, and Judi Dench • Time : 144 minutes

The main character is Hercule Poirot, a famous belgian detective who solves quickly a lot of mysteries. He wants to go to France because there is a problem. His friend offers him to take this new train called « The Orient Express » but during the journey, one night there is a death. Hercule Poirot tries to find who the murderer is but it is more complicated than he thinks.

The playing : There are a lot of famous actors and they are all really good. It is very interesting to see them playing together.

The story : The story is really easy to understand. There is a really good work with the costum and the screenplay is very well adapted.

The time : Sometimes it is a little bit annoying because there is no action or suspense. It becomes quite long and we just want to see the end to catch the murderer. In spite of this little fault, I think it is a movie to see because it is really entertaining.

Fog, the last movie of John Carpenter is definitely the best film he has ever made. I know it's an old movie( it was released in 1980) and the special effects weren't great but the plot is awesome.

The story is a bit more complicated but, it's the story of a little city in U.S. Called Antonio Bay that celebrates it's 100th birthday. But it's also the birthday of the terrible and mysterious crah of a pirate ship. The father Malone discovered in his church a book written by a man who died in the ship. IN his book, it's said that the builders of the city stole the fortune of the pirate and he wanted to killed him. At the same time, fog invaded city and ghost pirates begin to killed people.

-good things:

*I thought there would be have more blood, like in a classic horror movie, but there wasn't. I put it here because I don't like seeing blood in movies. *They was a lot of suspense and the watcher is already worried each night in the film.

-Bad things:

*As I said before, the special effects weren't realistic because it dates from 1980. *I know in 1980 it was hard to produce a long movie, but it takes only 89 minutes, a little bit short for me.

Although it was short and a bit unrealistic, this movie has assets. I really enjoyed it and, if you like screaming and being scared I advise you to see it !! OCEAN’S ELEVEN: MOVIE REVIEW

Julia Roberts: « You don’t do that anymore ? Georges Clooney: - Steal ? Julia Roberts: -Lie. » As you can see I am writing this review to speak about a film which was released in 2001: Ocean’s Eleven !

Georges Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon are the famous actors who played in this action movie directed by Steven Soderbergh and screen played by Ted Griffin. The movie is based on the Ocean’s Eleven released in 1960. But the movie of 1960 didn’t attract the public and Steven Soderbergh did a very appreciated remake. The movie got three sequels: Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen and now in a few months Ocean’s Eight. The film won a Cesar nomination for the best foreign movie.

Let’s remember the plot; the story is about men who are going to steal three popular casinos at the same time in Las Vegas. The acting: Those actors are so true-to-life ! They make us feel in the movie. They are also really expressive and we can easily understand the scene. The plot: Stealing three casinos seems impossible ! As we can see not for the ingenious team of men where every body has a different skill and personality. The men are going to elaborate an amazing plan ! The cast: Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Georges Clooney what a wonderful cast ! Although we can question ourselves wether so many talents are best used for a comedy rather than a more serious and important subject. Ocean’s Eleven got a plot which looks like the one of Point Break. The difference is that in Point Break the thief are high-level athletes and if you enjoyed Ocean’s Eleven I advise it to you. I think that Julia Roberts played a little superficially and not as well as when she played in Tomb Raiders.

I enjoyed the movie and I had a good time watching it. The action and the comedy were mixed together so the atmosphere was joyful and the soundtrack was energetic. It’s interesting that the movie stopped as he started: Mr Ocean’s goes out of a prison.This make us feel like a new adventure is about to start again.

There are plenty of emotions through problem is that we guess the end before it the movie, from sadness to happiness and the happens. I have really been disappointed on characters are touching. that point : the target audience is tinier than the first movie. Because it is less funny, I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to.

This movie is ideal for children about eight years old. It is entertaining, the plot is cute, but it isn't catchy. I found this sequel disappointing. Rating :

The end lets us think that there will be a sequel but there is not. We felt like they forgot a scene that is very disappointing.

Although the movie has an abrupt end, it has good romantic scene and it portrays soldiers life very well.

– Directing : The director did a great job with some really original ways of filming that made the movie special. There were animated moments, time-lapses and weird camera angles. – Vo i c e o v e r : The voice over really guides you throughout the story, you really get to understand Greg better, see all of his impressions. – The ending : The ending was especially emotional because you really didn't expect it to end in the way it did.

– Rachel : I thought they could have told us more about Rachel, so that we could get attached to her more and it could stir up even more emotions. – The cliques : The high school cliques were way too stereotypical for me. Although the director probably wanted it to be like that, it just wasn't that funny. – Soup scene : The whole part where Earl and Greg get high on the teachers soup wasn't necessary, they could have used that time to tell us more about Rachel.

I thought this movie was very entertaining, I loved the way it was filmed. The ending was really touching. It talks about a very serious matter but makes it funny with the awkwardness of it all.

The scenes were very beautiful and the actors were dressed in old type luxury costumes. They played in a spectacular train with perfect scripts.

This movie was well made, built suspense right up until the end. It slowly revealed the secrets of each characters. Until the end scene of the movie.

This movie kept me interested from the mysterious start, through the suspense moments, and to the surprising ending. HERCULE POIROT

The movie as a lot of defaults. There are political jokes (the Korean war is a sensitive subject and the movie does not have this sensibility), there are a sexual jokes that are misogynistic, there are a ethnic jokes...etc

The new musical The greatest showman by Mickael Gracey, was released on the big screen ! It’s one of the most spectacular and magic historical musical !

We begin by remembering the plot : This film tells the incredible story of Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810-1891), who created the barnum circus. This young and poor Phineas falls in love with the rich and pretty Charity. After a lot of misadventures, when they are older, they decide to make a huge and wonderful show with people who have a « special thing » like a woman who has a beard. Phineas wants to see happiness on the faces in the audience and show that these « weirdos » are different but have a big talent. Split up between celebrity and friendship, between dream and reality his story is really moving and has many rebounds.

This movie is one of my favorites, I think that they make Barnum’s especially for the amazing songs ! The story more beautiful than the horrible greatest showman won an award for the reality of his life. best original song « This is me » ! The trailer is really disappointing, it The actors are really wonderful ! We can doesn’t highlignt the quality of this film and it discover Loren Allred’s angelic breath-taking doesn’t look voice when she sings « Never enough ». like a good film. I can’t not speak about the fabulously terrific The movie is a little bit too long, camera work and the stunning visual effects. approximately 2 hours. The duo with Zendaya and Zac Efron is so cute !!!

Finally, this musical is really appreciated by the audience and by me. There are not a lot of faults, so of course I definitely advise you to see this awesome film !!!

This is a sci-fi and action movie. It was released in March 2013 and on the 21st March 2018 (last week) the sequel is out in cinema !

Plot : In the opening scene, we learn a lot about the history of our Earth which takes place in the future. Earth has been invaded by Kaijus, very big monsters (they look like Gozillas). Those things invaded our world by the Pacific Ocean and bring chaos on the ground during one decade. Kajus are invincible and kill a lot of people. Countries around the world decide to unite and create Jaegers to fight Kajus «To fight monsters, we created monsters» The story takes place in the banks of the Pacific Ocean, where Kajus could go and kill inhabitants. Jaegers are moving with helicopters and army plane.

Cast: + Charlie Hunnam played Raleight Becket + Rinko Kikuchi (winner of the Oscar Best Actress in a Supporting role in 2007) played Mako Mori + Idris Elba played Captain Stacker Pentecost + was the director + Travis Beacham wrote the screenplay which is very original (for once, aliens don’t invade Earth by the sky!) + Ramin Djawadi created the soundtrack.

I really enjoyed the visual effects, it was right what was needed to give the story something great and I found the soundtrack amazing !

The only faut for me is that the plot is a little bit too complicated, it’s not easy to understand where Kajus are but it’s ok.

There is suspense from the begining to the end and a lot of action I definitely recommend it !

Hi again everyone ! Today, I’m going to talk about another movie that I saw during these holidays : The Goonies. I really enjoyed it and advise you to see it, you won’t regret it ! It’s been such a long time since I was so captivated by a movie. Go see it, except if you are fearful : you will have strange nightmares tonight !

Genre : Adventure/Comedy

The Goonies is a brilliant movie based on the book of Steven Spielberg, that talks about four boys who live in a neighborhood that will be destroyed. They find in a granary a treasure map, and they decide to follow it to find the money and prevent the destruction of their homes. They will end up in a house where prisoners on the run are hiding, and make a pursuit race with these vilains to have the treasure, along with their friends.

Positive impressions : This is one of the coolest movie I have ever seen before ! The actors played very well, even if they are quite young. The plot is very interesting : it’s the typical scenario of the 80’s (boys who find a map and have a lot of adventures). The people who played in it were not as famous as they are now when they filmed the movie, so I think it’s good : we can discover new actors, and they had the chance to play in a movie, even if they had never shot before. This film can be scary sometimes, but there are also comic passages, which makes it unique. We can change emotions in a split second.

Negative impressions : There is a rumor that there will be a second film… And I’m not very keen on this idea of a sequel. The Goonies ended so well ! Why want to start all over again and take risks ? We don’t need that, and I think it doesn’t make sense anymore…

In spite of this rumor, this movie is entertaining, thrilling and you can laugh at the same time. The screenplay writer is a genius, and this movie is still watched by young people. It was a blockbuster, and it’s still a blockbuster for me ! It was released in 1985 actually ! Isn’t that crazy !? It looks like it was filmed 15 years ago. So you can watch it at home (D.V.D.’s), in streaming…
