Runs ....................................................... 53 UREÑA'S LATE CHARGE ERA ..................................................... 5.49 José Ureña has won his last two starts, marking the first time this season he has won back-to-back starts (he has never earned 2018 PHILLIES VS. MARLINS a win in three consecutive starts). Over his last four outings, dating back to August 19, he has posted a 3-0 record and 2.22 ERA Average .............................................. .258 (28.1 ip/7 er), striking out 18 and holding opponents to just a .167 batting average (sixth among NL starters since Aug. 19, min. Twelve of the 18 runs of support he has received over his last four starts came on Aug. 19, when he tossed his first career complete game, a 12-1 win over the Nationals in D.C. His 3.38 run-support average for the season still ranks as the lowest among National League starters, however (min. 28 GS). THE SKID CONTINUES The Phillies assured themselves of a ninth-consecutive season-series victory with Friday night's 14-2 win, improving to 10-7 against Miami this year (now 11-7). Miami has not won a season series against the Phillies since going 10-8 in 2008. The clubs tied 9-9 in 2009 before Philadelphia began its winning streak in 2010. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the winning streak for the Phils is tied with St. Louis over Colorado (including this season) for the second-longest active streak in the Majors, behind a 12-year streak for the Yankees over Minnesota (including this season). It is the longest such streak in Marlins' history. DON'T RUB IT Derek Dietrich on Friday night was hit by a pitch for the 20th time this season. Dietrich has been hit by a pitch once every 22.89 plate appearances in his career. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that is the highest rate among active players and the highest rate of any player who debuted in the Modern Era (since 1900, minimum 2,000 PA). Dietrich's rate of 26.45 PA per HBP this season is the second-highest among MLB hitters qualified for the batting title, behind Brandon Nimmo (24.05). Dietrich's rate this season is also the highest in Club history for a player qualified for the batting title. TEAM EFFORT Since July 1, Marlins outfielders have combined for 16 assists, tied with Pittsburgh for the most in the Majors. Seven different players have recorded an assist during that stretch: Brian Anderson (4), Derek Dietrich (3), Rafael Ortega (3), Magneuris Sierra (3), Lewis Brinson (1), Garrett Cooper (1) and Austin Dean (1). That is tied with Baltimore and Texas for the most outfielders with an assist during that stretch (seven each). For the season, the Marlins have recorded 26 outfield assists, surpassing their total from all of last year. Only Pittsburgh (30) and the Cubs (28) have more among NL squads this season, whil Cincinnati also has 26. CATCH & HIT J.T. Realmuto hit his 21st home run of the year Friday night, extending his single-season career high. His 18 home runs as a catcher rank as the second-most by a Marlins backstop in Club history, one behind Charles Johnson's 19 in 1997. His 60 RBI when behind the plate are the fourth-most in a single season in Marlins history, behind Ivan Rodriguez (82 in 2003) and Johnson (69 in 2001 and 63 in 1997). ALL AROUND ANDY Brian Anderson leads all Major League rookies in games (145), at-bats (552), runs (80), average with RISP (.366), and on-base percentage (.353); ranks second in hits (149), doubles (31), walks (58), and multi-hit games (43); ranks third in average (.270) and slugging (.395); ranks tied for third in triples (4); and ranks fourth in RBI (59). On the defensive side, he leads NL rookie outfielders (min. 50 GS) with a .994 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 176 total chances. He also owns eight outfield assists, tied with Harrison Bader for most among all ML rookie outfielders and just four off the Major League lead held by Billy Hamilton. His six total errors this season are third-fewest by a NL rookie (min. 90 GS), and he is the only rookie on that list to spend significant time at two different positions (54 GS at 3B; 89 GS in RF). ¡GRACIAS MIAMI! Atlanta Braves Clippings Wednesday, May 6, 2020 Braves.com Braves' Top 5 center fielders: Bowman's take By Mark Bowman No one loves a good debate quite like baseball fans, and with that in mind, we asked each of our beat reporters to rank the top five players by position in the history of their franchise, based on their career while playing for that club. These rankings are for fun and debate purposes only … if you don’t agree with the order, participate in the Twitter poll to vote for your favorite at this position. Here is Mark Bowman’s ranking of the top 5 center fielders in Braves history. Next week: Right fielders. 1. Andruw Jones, 1996-2007 Key fact: Stands with Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays and Ichiro Suzuki as the only outfielders to win 10 consecutive Gold Glove Awards The 60.9 bWAR (Baseball Reference’s WAR model) Andruw Jones produced during his 11 full seasons (1997-2007) with Atlanta ranked third in the Majors, trailing only Alex Rodriguez (85.7) and Barry Bonds (79.2). Chipper Jones was fourth at 58.9. Within this span, the Braves center fielder led all Major Leaguers with a 26.7 Defensive bWAR. Hall of Fame catcher Ivan Rodriguez ranked second with 16.5. The next closest outfielder was Mike Cameron (9.6).
