National Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability In 2019 all schools will once again participate in the collection of nationally consistent data on students with a disability. Under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) this will include students who have a medical condition, for example asthma or allergies, and students with learning difficulties, for example reading difficulties, which require adjustments to teaching. A fact sheet to inform parents about the data collection is attached to this week’s newsletter.

ICAS Assessments Over the last few years schools have managed the ICAS tests, by taking payment, filling in paper forms and then posting them off. From this year, however, schools will no longer be responsible for this task and entry will need to be made by the parent online and then the test will also be delivered online. Parents will receive a letter this week with details of entering their child/ren in this year’s assessments.

Self-Reflection We have received positive feedback regarding the implementation of our Self-Refection -K 12 Behaviour Management System. At this stage the initiative is being embedded into consistent teacher practice and in great news at this stage no students have been referred to the Self-Reflection Room.

ArtExpress Stage 6 Visual Arts students will travel to on Wednesday, August 7 2019 for an excursion to the ArtExpress exhibition. The visit will expose students to a selection of top performing Bodies of Work produced by students for the 2018 HSC. It will not only help with the resolution of their own artworks, but also provide information for the written section of the Visual Arts course.

National Science Week National Science Week will be celebrated from 10-18 August 2019. As part of the celebrations we are planning two school events, a screening of Scinema, the largest science film festival in the southern hemi- sphere showcasing the best science feature, short, documentary, animated and experimental films from filmmakers around the world, and a Paper Plane Challenge. More details later!

Finally…. The Suggestion Box at the front counter of the office is being utilised, with some suggestions including a school beanie as part of the school uniform, times for the Primary Assembly and concerns about lighting within classrooms. Please keep them coming, as all feedback is considered. Our door is and always has been open – whether you are happy, sad or mad. We need to know if we are not doing something right, but I also need to know that you trust our motives and intentions. Everything we do, every single day is for YOUR children. Happy Term 3 faces at CCS

Until next week,
