12 THINGS TO KNOW:

1. Thursday’s contest in Chicago marks the Wild’s third game in a span where five of its first six games of the season are on the road. Last season, the Wild posted a 22-13-6 record on the road – ranking second in the Western Conference (CHI) and T-5th in the NHL for most points in away games.

2. Minnesota plays just four games in the first 15 days of its season. Minnesota had a four-day break between its second game of the year in Carolina and Thursday’s contest in Chicago. After the Wild’s home opener Saturday vs. Columbus, the team has five days before its next game.

3. The Wild has earned points in nine of its last 11 games against the Blackhawks (8-2-1), and has posted a 4-1-0 record in its last five games in Chicago. In the last 24 meetings between the Wild and Blackhawks since April 1, 2012, Minnesota is 14-8-2, with 13 of those contests being decided by one goal, and five in a shootout.

4. Devan Dubynk is one win away from his 100th victory in a Wild sweater. Since his first game with Minnesota on Jan. 15, 2015, Dubnyk is 99-55-13 with a 2.18 GAA, .924 SV% and 15 shutouts in 172 games – leading the NHL in games played, ranking second in wins and shutouts, T-2nd in SV%, and fourth in GAA in that span amongst NHL goalies with at least 100 games played. Last season, he posted career highs and franchise records with 40 wins, a 10-game win streak and a 14-game point streak.

5. Chris Stewart played in his 600th NHL game Saturday, scoring his second goal of the season and 152nd of his NHL career. The 29- year-old leads the Wild with three points (2-1=3) in the Wild’s two games this season. The Toronto native was originally selected by Colorado in the first round (18th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has played for the Avalanche, Blues, Sabres, Ducks and Wild.

6. Eric Staal scored his first career goal against Carolina Saturday and has now scored at least one goal against every NHL team except the Vegas Golden Knights. The 32-year-old has two points (1-1=2) in two games this season, leading the Wild with 10 shots and ranking first amongst forwards in ice time. Last season, he led the Wild with 28 goals and 211 shots, ranking second with 65 points – his most goals in a season since 2010-11 and his most points since 2011-12.

7. Mikko Koivu scored his first goal of the year Saturday, sending the game to overtime after scoring a goal with 0.3 seconds left in regulation. He has also won 30-of-49 (61.2%) faceoffs in the first two games of the season. The Wild captain agreed to a two-year, $11 million contract extension with the Wild on Sept. 18 after representing Minnesota at the 2017 NHL Awards this summer as a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy. He posted 58 points (18-40=58) in 80 games last season, ranking T-8th in the NHL with a career-high plus- 27 rating. The 34-year-old ranked fifth in the NHL in faceoff wins (938), sixth in faceoffs taken (1,699) and 16th in faceoff win percentage (55.2%). He also ranked T-16th amongst NHL forwards with a career-high 65 blocked shots.

8. Marcus Foligno leads the Wild with two assists this season, registering a helper in each of his first two games in a Wild sweater. The 26-year-old agreed to a four-year, $11.5 million contract with the Wild on Sept 14. Last season, he posted 23 points (13-10=23) and ranked fifth in the NHL with a career-high 279 hits in 80 games with Buffalo. He also set career highs in goals and blocked shots (57). He spent six seasons with Buffalo (2011-17) and is the younger brother of Columbus captain .

9. Tyler Ennis turned 28 Friday after registering an assist in his first game with the Wild. He joined the Wild after being acquired alongside forward Marcus Foligno and a third-round selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft from Buffalo in exchange for forward , defenseman and a fourth-round selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft on June 30. Ennis grew up in Edmonton with Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon and the best friends were working out together this summer when Ennis received the call that he had been traded to Minnesota. Ennis totaled 13 points (5-8=13) in 51 games with the Sabres last season, missing 30 games with a groin injury.

10. Minnesota has posted an all-time 84-57-27 record for the month of October, including a 25-12-7 record in the last four seasons – the third-fewest October losses in the NHL since 2013. Wild lead the NHL since 2000 in October shutouts (17) and goals- against/game (2.46), and rank second in save percentage (.915).

11. The Wild set franchise records for most wins (49) and points (106) in a single season in 2016-17 (49-25-8). Minnesota also advanced to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fifth straight season in 2016-17 – the longest streak in franchise history. The Wild is one of six NHL teams to qualify for the playoffs in each of the last five seasons: Anaheim, Chicago, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

12. This season’s Xcel Energy Center ice sheet is made with water contributed by fans from their favorite hockey ponds, lakes and rinks. Wild fans were invited to bring up to three ounces of water from their favorite source to pour into the Zamboni at Xcel Energy Center during a “Flood the Rink” event on Sept. 16, and can do so at every game throughout the 2017-18 season.
