    1 Verizon Political Activity January – June 2018 A Message from Craig Silliman Verizon is affected by a wide variety of government policies -- from telecommunications regulation to taxation to health care and more -- that have an enormous impact on the business climate in which we operate. We owe it to our shareowners, employees and customers to advocate public policies that will enable us to compete fairly and freely in the marketplace. Political contributions are one way we support the democratic electoral process and participate in the policy dialogue. Our employees have established political action committees at the federal level and in 18 states. These political action committees (PACs) allow employees to pool their resources to support candidates for office who generally support the public policies our employees advocate. This report lists all PAC contributions, corporate political contributions, support for ballot initiatives and independent expenditures made by Verizon and its affiliates during the first half of 2018. The contribution process is overseen by the Corporate Governance and Policy Committee of our Board of Directors, which receives a comprehensive report and briefing on these activities at least annually. We intend to update this voluntary disclosure twice a year and publish it on our corporate website. We believe this transparency with respect to our political spending is in keeping with our commitment to good corporate governance and a further sign of our responsiveness to the interests of our shareowners. The prayer was offered by Rev. Rich Wyatt, Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, Bismarck. COMMUNICATION FROM SECRETARY OF STATE ALVIN A. JAEGER December 3, 2018 In accordance with Section 54-03-03 of the North Dakota Century Code, I certify the enclosed list is a true and correct record of members of the House of Representatives elected in the General Election held on November 6, 2018. The State Canvassing Board certified the results of the election on November 16, 2018. As specified in Section 16.1-15-45 of the North Dakota Century Code, Certificates of Election were then prepared by the Secretary of State and signed by the Governor, the Clerk of the Supreme Court (as the designated representative of the State Canvassing Board), and the Secretary of State. Each newly elected member of the Legislative Assembly was then issued their Certificate of Election (copies enclosed), as specified in Section 16.1-15-46 of the North Dakota Century Code. In addition, in accordance with Section 4, Article XI, of the North Dakota Constitution, an Oath of Office (or affirmation) form was provided to each Representative, with instructions to execute the Oath before a Notary Public and file it with the Secretary of State before he or she assumes the duties of their office. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Dakota at the Capitol in the City of Bismarck on this date.

There is an exemption in the law for licensed physicians and surgeons, nurses, chiropractors, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists or physical therapists that make dietetic or nutritional assessments, or give dietetic or nutritional advice in the normal practice of their profession or as otherwise authorized by law. However there is no such exemption for holistic nutrition professionals. The Iowa Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition will be holding a Lobbying Workshop along with meetings with key legislators. Recommendations We should politely disrupt the legislative day and urge policymakers to consider finding ways to open up the practice of nutrition. Specifically, we should call attention to parts of the law that are anticompetitive, and encourage them to investigate whether licensure of dietetics prevents competition, by creating a monopoly for a single profession.
