Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Cody Poteet (3-11) earned his first win since April 28 for the Jumbo Shrimp, as he worked seven innings where he allowed two runs (both earned) on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Chattanooga right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen (5-7) took the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Eric Jagielo gave Jacksonville an early lead in the top of the second with a three-run home run to right- center field to put the Jumbo Shrimp in front 3-0. Monte Harrison continued the home run exhibition, as he led off the top of the third with a solo blast to left-center to grow Jacksonville’s lead to 4-0. Jacksonville added three more runs in the top of the fourth, with a Brian Miller RBI groundout, a Bryson Brigman RBI single, and a Joe Dunand sacrifice fly growing the lead to 7-0. After Poteet’s first four innings were scoreless, the Lookouts added their first run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Jimmy Kerrigan to make it a 7-1 game. Anfernee Seymour continued his great night at the plate in the top of the seventh with a two-run single to left to grow the lead to 9-1.
