The museum offers an exhibition surface of 2000m², entirely refurbished in 2006. The collections of military equipment, the diorama and the archival films allow the visitor to grasp the enormous effort made during this decisive battle in order to restore peace in Europe. A presentation of the overall situation in Europe before D- Day precedes the rooms devoted to the operations of the month of June 1944: the visit of General De Gaulle in Bayeux on 14 th June, the role of the Resistance, the Mulberry Harbours and the capture of Cherbourg. Visitors can then step into an exhibition hall based on the work of war reporters – a theme favoured by the City of Bayeux which organises each year the Prix Bayeux-Calvados for War Correspondents. Visitors will also find information on the lives of civilians living amongst the fighting in the summer of 1944 and details of the towns destroyed by the bombings.

Aujourd’hui, magnifique point de Reuville, en briques avec haras et orangerie vue sur toute la Baie des Veys. (fin XIXe siècle), les manoirs de Franqueville, premier poste US de commandement, de la 7 Eglise de Brucheville Princerie, de Brécourt. Une des plus belles églises du Cotentin remarquable par son clocher roman du XIIe 5 Réserve naturelle nationale siècle : chapiteaux historiés (louve, godrons, du Domaine de Beauguillot chimères...), porte sous archivolte formée En poursuivant sur le chemin deux de pointes de diamant évidées et de beak- observatoires vous permettront de découvrir heads (becs ou têtes mordant un tore, motifs fréquents en Irlande et en Angleterre), bas- les oiseaux migrateurs tels que les oies, relief encastré (évêque terrassant un dragon), canards, échassiers. baies géminées en plein cintre à triple rouleau, corniche à modillons et garde-corps. Shakespeare in Henry V, for example, invites his audience to imagine the king’s massive fleet embarking on its invasion of Normandy in 1415. “You stand upon the rivage and behold,” the chorus intones, “A city on the inconstant billows dancing, / For so appears this fleet majestical.”1 Nearly 600 years later, the British military historian John Keegan described what he beheld as a 10-year-old schoolboy on June 5, 1944, when the night sky pulsed with the noise of prop engines. Its first tremors had taken my parents into the garden, and as the roar grew I followed and stood between them to gaze awestruck at the constellation of red, green and yellow lights, which rode across the heavens and streamed southward across the sea. It seemed as if every aircraft in the world was in flight, as wave followed wave without intermission . [W]e remained transfixed and wordless on the spot where we stood, gripped by a wild surmise of what power, majesty, and menace the great migratory flight could portend.2 Keegan did not know at the time that he was witnessing the Allies’ “great adventure” in Europe, as his nation’s General Bernard Montgomery called it. Somewhat more memorably, General Dwight Eisenhower dubbed it the “Great Crusade.” Operation Overlord had begun, and with it the fight to liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny. Both Keegan and Shakespeare stressed the massive scale of these cross-Channel invasions.

    SYNDICAT MIXTE OUVERT MANCHE NUMÉRIQUE STATUTS Manche Numérique - statuts 26-03-2021 1 / 10 TITRE I : PRÉSENTATION DU SYNDICAT Article I.1 : OBJET DU SYNDICAT En application des articles L. 5721-1 et suivants du code général des collectivités territoriales, il est créé un syndicat mixte ouvert (ci-après désigné « le Syndicat ») pour l’établissement, l’exploitation et la mise à disposition des réseaux et infrastructures de communications électroniques, des services numériques et activités connexes. Le Syndicat est régi, par ordre de priorité : • par les dispositions des articles L. 5721-1 et suivants du code général des collectivités territoriales, relatives aux syndicats mixtes ouverts, et par les présents statuts ; • à défaut, par les dispositions des articles L. 5211-1 et suivants et L. 5212-1 et suivants du code général des collectivités territoriales, relatives aux établissements publics de coopération intercommunale. Le Syndicat relève de la catégorie des syndicats mixtes ouverts restreints au sens de l’article L.5721-8 du code général des collectivités territoriales. La liste de ses membres est établie en annexe 1. Le Syndicat relève des syndicats fonctionnants « à la carte », au sens de l’article L. 5721-6-1 du code général des collectivités territoriales, pour les compétences visées à l’article I.1.1. La liste des membres par compétences figure en annexe des présents statuts. After that, nothing happened to the regiment until 28 June, when the first personnel began streaming in from the 928th Regiment, the 805th, 187Sth, 1896th and 1897th Engineer Aviation Battalions, from the first Air force, from the 939th Camoufiage Battalion. for the next few weeks the company acted like the next best thing to a repple depp!e, with literally hundreds of men coming in , answering once or twice to 1st Sgt Lyons' bull-roar, then moving along.
