The Legacy of Chief Manuelito The Navajo Nation established the Chief Manuelito Scholarship program in 1980 to recognize high achieving high school graduates. The scholarship honors Chief Addy Lynn Yazzie Colby Dyami Yazzie Kylee Yazzie Preston A. Yazzie Manuelito, Hastiin Ch’ilhaajiin, (1818-1893), who encouraged the Navajo people to Newcomb High School St. Michael Indian School Coconino High School Snowflake High School Southern Utah University Cornell University Arizona State University Arizona State University seek education and protect and preserve Navajo tradition and culture.
