TOP CURRENT IRON-MAN STREAK GAMES STREAK BEGAN PLAYER 401 11/21/13 Brent Burns

28+88=9x2...With their efforts on 10/30, Timo Meier and Brent Burns became only the second set of teammates in franchise history to register simultaneous nine game point streaks, which is one shy of the franchise record of T. Elik and P. Falloon in 1993-94, who recorded simultaneous 10-game point streaks. This season, the Sharks own two of the NHL's six point streaks of nine games or more, while Burns holds the highest point streak by a defenseman this season.

BIG DILL...Marc-Edouard Vlasic logged his 900th NHL game on 10/18 vs BUF, becoming the first San Jose defensemen to register 900 career games with the club and was just the 28th defenseman in NHL history to skate in 900 or more with a single franchise. The Sharks also become the 16th different club to see a defenseman skate in 900 contests for a single franchise. With his milestone achievement, Vlasic is only the second player in Sharks history to appear in 900 or more games while being drafted by the club (Marleau, 1493).

700 CLUB...With his goal in the first period against New Jersey 10/14, Joe Pavelski (322g, 380a) registered his 700th career NHL point. Pavelski became the fifth player in NHL history drafted 200th or later to amass 700 points over an NHL career (D. Taylor, 1,069 pts; H. Zetterberg, 960 pts; P. Demitra, 768 pts; S. Sullivan, 747 pts). Pavelski also became the third Sharks player to registered 700 points or more with the franchise (P. Marleau, 1,082; Joe Thornton, 974). Pavelski skated in his 900th NHL game and became the 13th player to achieve the mark drafted 200 or later.

A JUMBO LEAP...Joe Thornton is within reach of several key milestones atop the all-time NHL list. Entering tonight's contest 'Jumbo' Joe is four games from 1,500 career NHL games and would become the 19th skater in NHL history to appear in 1,500 contests. On the way to 1,500 NHL games, Thornton has passed P. Housley (1,495) and would surpass M. Modano (1,499) for 20th and 19th on the list respectively. Thornton needs two assists to tie M. Lemieux (1,033) for 11th on the all-time assists list and is 29 points from T. Selanne (1,457) for 15th on the NHL's all-time points list. Among personal career milestones, Thornton is three goals from 400 career NHL goals.

CZECHPOINT...Tomas Hertl scored the game-tying goal 10/30 vs NYR at 19:58 of the 3rd to force overtime. Hertl was one second shy of the franchise record set twice. Below is a look at the latest GTGs in franchise history: PLAYER DATE/OPP TIME

Patrick Marleau 1/16/99 vs CGY 19:59

Pat Falloon 2/28/92 vs MTL 19:59

ESPECIALLY GREAT...Since 10/18, the Sharks special teams have been clicking on all cylinders. The power play has converted 7 of 20 chances for a 35.0% conversion rate while the penalty kill has gone 17-17 and has allowed only one PPG in their last eight games (26-27).

BIG EAST...Starting with the Islanders on 10/8, the Sharks will face 10 opponents in the Eastern Conference over their next 12 games (West Teams: NSH, 10/23, ANA 10/28). San Jose is 3-2-3 this season vs. Eastern Conference teams.

DOMINANT DUO…On September 13, general manager Doug Wilson traded for two-time Norris Trophy Winner Erik Karlsson. Karlsson joins Brent Burns as active Sharks to have won the Norris Trophy in their career. The Sharks become the ninth NHL team with multiple Norris Trophy winners in their lineup for a game, the first since S. Niedermayer and C. Pronger with ANA in 2006-07 to 2008-09. With their combined effort on 10/9 @ PHI on Tomas Hertl's goal, Karlsson and Burns became the first pair of former Norris Trophy winners to combine on a goal during a regular-season game since Niedermayer and Pronger on 3/31/09 (w/ ANA). The Sharks hold the leading assist and point-getters among defensemen since the start of the 2013-14 season (Karlsson, 279 assists and 362 points; Burns 231 assists and 341 points). No other defenseman in the NHL has more than 300 points and both Burns and Karlsson rank first and third respectively in goals scored since the 2013-14 season.

MODEL OF CONSISTENCY…Since being named the team’s general manager on May 13, 2003, Doug Wilson has strategically built the San Jose Sharks into one of the ’s top franchises through strong drafting, shrewd trades and timely free agent signings. BLUE JACKETS NOTES OCTOBER RECAP The Jackets fell 5-3 to Detroit in their final game of October. The club’s six wins in the month are third-T most in an October in franchise history (third time), trailing only a 7-3-1 record (15 points) in October 2007 and franchise-record 8-4-0 (16 points) last October. The 15 points garnered in October 2007 is also the most points gained through the first 11 contests of a season.

NOVEMBER BREAKDOWN The Blue Jackets will only play five of their 14 games this month at home at Nationwide Arena and will have three of their 16 sets of back-to-back contests in the month (Nov. 3-4, 9-10 and 23-24). Columbus split their first set of back-to-back games, winning in Detroit in their season opener and falling to Carolina the next night at home. They will face eight clubs in the Eastern Conference and four against the Metro Division.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN… After playing just four of their 11 games in October on the road, Columbus will be away from Nationwide Arena for nine of their 14 November contests. That includes the club’s annual California trip to kick off the month (1st-4th). The club has picked up six points in their first four road contests (3-1-0), tied for the most wins/points to begin a campaign away from Ohio (third time; 2010-11 and 2017- 18). The Blue Jackets have started a season 4-1-0 (eight points) on the road just once before in franchise history (2010-11). They have swept a California road trip once before (Nov. 17-20, 2010) and picked up four out of six points on three occasions (most recent, Nov. 3-6, 2015).

GOAL AS YOU PLEASE The Jackets scored three goals in the third period to erase a three-goal deficit on Tuesday, but eventually fell 5-3 in regulation to the Red Wings. It was the third time this season the Jackets have scored three in the third period, and the sixth time they had a three-goal period this season. Columbus ranks fifth in the NHL with 3.55 goals per game and fourth in shots per game with 34.4.

WEST HEAVY STRETCH The beginning of the 2018-19 season for the Jackets is a schedule heavy in Western Conference opponents. The team plays eight of its first 15 games against West opponents and is in the middle of a stretch of seven of nine against the Western Conference from Oct. 20-Nov. 6 (2-2-0 so far). Tonight is the first of four-straight games against Western Conference teams.

AMONG THE LEAGUE’S BEST Columbus has been among the best teams in the NHL in picking up wins over the past few seasons. Dating back to the 2016-17 campaign, the Jackets are fifth-T in the league in wins (101, Boston, Minnesota), trailing only Washington (109) along with Tampa Bay (104), Pittsburgh and Nashville (103).

COME IN HANNI Markus Hannikainen notched his first points the season on Tuesday, assisting on two of the Jackets’ three goals on the night. It was his first career multi-assist game and second multi-point game of his NHL career (1-1-2 on Nov. 4, 2017 at TBL).

END OF THE LINE Defenseman Zach Werenski ended his career-long tying five-game point streak on Tuesday night. He had 1-5-6 in that stretch, which was the longest by a Blue Jackets player this season. Werenski set his career high with 2-5-7 in a five-game point streak from Mar. 10- 18, 2017. RW Cam Atkinson also ended his season-long three-game point streak against Detroit, where he had 2-3-5 in that span. ON THE FARM The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters currently sit in second place in the North Division with a 6-3-1-0 record after beating the Rockford IceHogs 2-1 on Saturday. Zac Dalpe (7-4-11), Eric Robinson (4-4-8) and Paul Bittner (2-5-7) lead the Monsters in scoring... Emil Bemstrom (4th round in 2017) is third-T in the SHL in goals (7-3-10 in 13 games for Djurgarden)... Trey Fix-Wolansky (7th round in 2018) leads the WHL in assists and ranks second in points with 11-21-32 in 17 games for Edmonton... Liam Foudy (1st round in 2018) has 6-3-9 in his first nine games with London (OHL)... Elvis Merzlikins (3rd round in 2014) has a 2.25 GAA and .931 SV% in 13 games for HC Lugano (NLA)... Veini Vehvilainen (6th round in 2018) has posted a 10-2-2 record, 1.21 GAA, .946 SV% and four shutouts in his first 14 games for Karpat ().
