Mike Scott just missed throwing his second career no-hitter on this date in 1988 against the Atlanta Brave. Scott settled with a 5-0 one-hit shutout after infielder Ken Oberkfell broke up the no-hit bid with a single down the right-field line at the Astrodome with two outs in the ninth inning. Scott threw his first career no-hitter on September 25, 1986 against the San Francisco Giants, which clinched the National League West title for the Astros.
