ANNUAL MEETING

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting. Sharon Pierce did a wonderful job chairing the event. Thank you Sharon! Our Annual Meeting is an important Club event where our membership is informed of the Board of Directors’ actions throughout the year. It is a time to connect with fellow competitors and officials and enjoy a delicious meal together!

This year the Annual Meeting was held at El Torito in Ontario. Gold Medalists in Singles and Pairs Freeskating and Gold Dances received their medals, and Club Competition award winners received their awards and gifts to honor participation at Nationals, Junior Nationals and Adult Nationals. It is important for our club community and for each member to be informed on what the club is doing, how to get questions answered and how to get involved! Look for news of our 2013 Annual Meeting in early 2013. We look forward to seeing you there!

2012 Governing Council News

The U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council was held in Myrtle Beach, S.C. May 4-5, 2012. Named Delegates: Amber Corwin, Doug Williams, Janis Engel, Larry Kriwanek, Lexi Rohner, Amanda Falkowski, Tiffany Chin, Rainer Kokotakis, and Alex Chang

Dancers take note - Dance skater’s choice music on all pattern dances now for Juvenile through Novice. Key points on Intermediate Dance this season. Juvenile will have key points on pattern dance next year.

Pair skaters take note – Intermediate Pairs will have a short program starting June 1, 2013. The Intermediate Pairs Free Skate for this year was revised to allow 2 different lifts from groups 1-4. USFS has also released pair levels for Juvenile and Intermediate and they are posted on the Technical Information portion of the website.

Adult Skating – please review the new rulebook or the combined report of action for changes to test qualification for adult skating competition levels. These changes address what is called ‘Legacy testing’.

The ISU Congress was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Check the U.S. Figure Skating website in the Technical Information area for updated information. Junior and Senior events are affected, most notably.
