PINAY, an organization of Filipino women in Quebec, founded in 1991, has been playing a key role in the struggle to protect the rights and welfare of migrants and immigrants, especially Filipina domestic workers and their families living and working in Quebec. During a seminar held at 6767 Cote des Neiges, a dramatization of the difficult working conditions of live-in caregivers, was an eye opener to what has long been hidden in the privacy of homes where they work. www.filipinostar.org November 2008 The North American Filipino Star 23 'This one's for history,' Pacquiao says of fight vs de la Hoya more than special to me. People will never forget who Manny Pacquiao is 50 years down the line and my name will be mentioned among the greatest," said Pacquiao as he rounded up an exhausting day of training on Wednesday at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. While Pacquiao has already etched his name among the sport's elite with wins over the likes of future Hall of Famers Eric Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez, defeating de la Hoya is an altogether different level. The Golden Boy is one of boxing's larger-than-life personalities, with an Olympic gold and 10 world titles in six weight divisions tucked under his belt. He is acknowledged as the king of pay- per-view boxing and one of the world's most recognizable names and faces. Pacquiao, however, is fast catching up to de la Hoya's stature. With Pacquiao becoming the darling of boxing aficionados and fans alike, the Dream Match appears to be a symbolic passing of the torch from the "Golden" reign to the era of the Pacman. The moment isn't lost on Pacquiao. "This is so much different than anything I've ever done, face, seen and DON'T UNDERSTIMATE ME ... four-weight world champ Pacquiao has warned De La Hoya fought before," the reigning world But Manny Pacquiao values one Hoya.
