Coaches Wanted Are you a football coach looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about how kids should be coached and the game taught?

The Yarraville Seddon Eagles Junior Football Club is looking for Coaches to join our current team of dynamic coaches for the upcoming 2014 season. In this volunteer role, we look for our coaches to provide leadership in a fast growing junior sports club and help develop the right culture to give young players the best chance to enjoy their football. With all eligible teams participating in finals this year we are looking for coaches to teach the skills and attitudes required for children and young men to be good footballers, great teammates and valued club members. Requirements are that coaches hold a level 1 AFL coaching accreditation and have passed a working with children background check. Interested applicants should reply by email, with a brief outline of their football backgrounds and attitudes to [email protected]

Whilst it’s not unusual to see two different clubs fight it out on the footy field and see opposition spectators align themselves on opposite sides of the ground, it’s not every day you see two clubs come together and create a combined team. Deer Park Under 13s coach, David Foley was faced with every coaches worst nightmare of not having enough players to fill a side just one week out from the first game of the season. “I only had 13 players...then I heard that Caroline Springs had too many kids for an Under 14s side and they were trying to juggle their numbers to field an Under All players listen intently to their coaches in the quarter time 13s side topping up from Under 12s,” Foley said. huddle. Having an even amount of kids represent both clubs “It’s been really positive feedback and parents have in the newly combined team, Foley and Turner have been rapt with how the whole thing has worked out. continued to share the load and responsibilities between both clubs evenly, throughout the season. “Both clubs have Burnside and Sydenham from the EDFL on our door step taking players, so this was the “Earlier in the season, we would train Tuesday night at best outcome to keep our player at their respective Deer Park, Wednesday night at Caroline Springs and clubs an playing in the WRFL and possibly still playing then together on Friday nights, but due to the weather football at all, if either side folded.” getting worse and ground closures we just train twice a week at Caroline Springs. 3 WRFL JUNIOR FOOTY RECORD WWW.WRFL.ORG.AU 4 UNDEFEATED WARRIORS MARCH INTO THE FINALS It’s safe to say the Hoppers Crossing Under 14s team know their club song by now, having sung it every weekend during the home and away season, after being undefeated all year. A perfect season is not an easy feat to achieve at any level, with the Deer Park Seniors side the last team to remain undefeated throughout the home and away season and finals series in 2011. “The team has so far been successful because we have no one player that is relied on, we have set about structuring this team on a motto that only a team can win and not an individual and I think they have shown that by playing this way, we are hard to beat,” coach Jason Rainbow commented.
