MIKE & CARLY quick summary

Singapore is one of the most high-tech and modern cities we have ever visited. The streets are super clean, and the food is delicious.

general tips

Singapore is extremely hot and humid. Drink a ton, especially if you are walking around outside! Stay close to the area so that you can walk to most of the main attractions. Most people speak English, as it is the official language of the country.

*Rating taken from Google Maps transportation INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Changi is the second busiest airport in South East Asia. You will most likely be passing through here on your way in and out of the country. The airport is huge, and we spent time walking around before our departing flight. Inside you will find the world's tallest indoor waterfall, a butterfly garden, a swimming pool, and an array of shopping and food destinations. MASS RAPID TRANSIT (MRT) SUBWAY SYSTEM The airport is connected to most of the city by the MRT. We took this from the airport to our hotel and it cost us about $5.00 per person one-way. We also took the MRT to Joo Chiat Road to see the Peranakan Houses. It is super clean and modern. Check where you are staying before you arrive and see if there is an MRT station nearby.

where we stayed

The Vagabond Club We used a bunch of Marriott points to stay here for free. We wouldn't recommend the hotel (it’s probably too expensive compared to others in the area), but it’s in a good location.

Positives Very close to Arab Street and Little India, 5 minute walk Walking distance to Hotel, , and the other downtown attractions in about 20 minutes.

Negatives Although it's walking distance to most major attractions, you could be closer if you stayed somewhere closer to the Marina/Downtown Core area. Too expensive. For what you pay you can get better value on AirBnb or Agoda.
