ABSTRACT Our society often considered the use of cannabis is an under-reported activity. Cannabis is used to relieve neuropathic and chronic pain. Cannabis, produced from the Cannabis sativa plant, have been used in three forms: herbal cannabis, the dried leaves and flowering tops The resin of the cannabis is the pressed secretions of the plant, known as ‘hashish’ or ‘charash. Cannabis sativa is an herbaceous species originated from Central Asia. It has been used in medicine and as a source of textile fiber since ancient times. The cannabis sativa is a fast growing plant attracted the people’s interest because of its multi-purpose applications. It is a rich source of photochemical, cellulose and woody fibers. The more interest is also due to its metabolites which show potent bioactivities on human health. In this review, the phytochemicals is discussed by putting a special emphasis on molecules including cannabinoids, terpenes and phenolic compounds. Cannabinoids are represented as the most studied group of compounds, because of their wide range of pharmaceutical effects in humans, including psychotropic activities. This article aims to update the current knowledge and evidence of using cannabis and its derivatives with a view to the sociolegal context and perspectives for future research. -

Equating Cannabinoid Blood Concentrations with Actual Driver Impairment: Practical Limitations and Concerns Paul Armentano National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws [email protected] ________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Fourteen US states have amended their longstanding, effect-based DUI drug laws to per se or zero tolerant per se statutes in regard to cannabis. Other states are considering enacting similar legislation. Under these amended traffic safety laws, it is a criminal violation for one to operate a motor vehicle with trace levels of cannabinoids or their metabolites in his or her blood or urine. Opponents of per se cannabinoid limits argue that neither the presence of cannabinoids nor their metabolites are appropriate or consistent predictors of behavioral or psychomotor impairment. They further argue that the imposition of such per se limits may result in the criminal conviction of individuals who may have previously consumed cannabis at some unspecified point in time, but were no longer under its influence. As more states enact statutory changes allowing for the legal use of cannabis under certain circumstances, there is a growing need to re-examine the appropriateness of these proposed per se standards for cannabinoids and their metabolites because the imposition of such limits may, in some instances, inadvertently criminalize behavior that poses no threat to traffic safety, -

Export is one source of foreign exchange earnings for the country. This study analyzes the competitiveness of Indonesian nutmeg in the world market. Measurement of competitiveness was conducted by looking at the comparative and competitive advantages nutmeg products in each of the main markets for export and comparison with competitors. The analytical method uses Revealed Comparative Advance (RCA) and Export Product Dynamic (EPD) in the period 2014-2018. The competitiveness analysis results show that nutmeg and nutmeg powder products have competitiveness in all export destination markets. Competitor countries, namely India, do not have competitiveness in the Dutch and Japanese markets. The nutmeg commodity has a competitive advantage with the trend and the share of exports that are still growing (fast-growing). However, nutmeg powder is no longer competitive in the export destination market. Active efforts to find new markets through market diversification while maintaining existing markets can be an option to increase Indonesian nutmeg exports. 1 Introduction Indonesia is one of the most reckoned nutmegs producing and exporting countries in the international world. Nutmeg (Myristica fragran haitt) is a spice plant that has a high economic value, especially the parts of nutmeg and flowers (mace), which can be used as nutmeg oil (oleum myristicae, oleum myrist or myristica oil). -

Sunn Hemp Shines in Massachusetts Sam Corcoran & Masoud Hashemi Foreground: Testing out sunn hemp as mulch and fertilizer for garlic, fall 2017; Background: a field of flowering sunn hemp before winterkill, early November. Sunn hemp is a new, summer crop for us in the Northeast. Despite its name, Sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) is not related to the industrial hemp you may be familiar with (Cannabis sativa). The Sunn Hemp plant bears only a mild resemblance to Cannabis, and is actually a legume in the same family as peas and beans. As a legume, Sunn Hemp has a relationship with bacteria that convert atmospheric nitrogen into plant-available nitrogen. It is believed that this tropical crop has been grown for hundreds of years, and it remains popular in India, Bangladesh, and Brazil. Sunn Hemp can be used for for- age, fiber, or as a green manure to provide nitrogen to subsequently planted crops. Modern interest in Sunn Hemp in the U.S. surged in Hawaii in the 80’s. Research spread across the southern U.S. in the 90’s through present, with Mid-Atlantic States also taking a recent research inter- est. Within just the past 2-3 years, a few seed companies have start- ed readily supplying Sunn Hemp throughout the U.S. Four years ago, we tried planting this crop at the UMass Research Farm and discovered we can grow Sunn Hemp, too. Despite our cooler climate, the hot summers in Massachusetts are sufficient for this tropical crop; in the 2016 drought, Sunn Hemp remained high performing while other crops suffered. -

Cinnamon-nutmeg Blondies Makes 12 servings Ingredients Directions nonstick cooking spray 1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a 9-by-9-inch pan 8 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce, divided with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside. 8 tablespoons cold-pressed canola oil, divided 2. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar, divided together 6 tablespoons applesauce, 1/2 cup sugar 6 tablespoons oil, 1 cup brown sugar and sugar. 2 large eggs Mix until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a 1 tablespoon vanilla extract time, while mixing. Add vanilla and beat until well-combined. 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 3. In another large bowl, whisk together flour, 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/16 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg, divided baking powder and salt. Add to mixture made 1 teaspoon baking powder in step 2. Use the hand mixer to beat until just 1/4 teaspoon salt combined. Press the mixture into the prepared pan. In a medium bowl, use the hand mixer to beat together 2 tablespoons applesauce, 2 tablespoons oil, ¼ cup brown sugar, 3 teaspoons cinnamon and 1/16 teaspoon nutmeg. Mix until smooth. 5. Use a small spoon to drop spoonfuls of the mixture made in step 4 over the batter in the pan. The use the back of the spoon to gently swirl the mixture over the batter. 6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until slightly soft in the middle.
